Suddenly the M11x Does not seem like that much better than the ASUS Ul-30Vt-A1,if you configure them a close as possible, setting the ASUS's turbo33 function to be equvilent advantage as the M11x's GTS 335m,it comes out to 1035$,235 bucks more for less battery life and way less portability, for 23$ more on the Ul30Vt you can get the 14inch Ul80Vt with this somewhat important thing called an Optical drive...not the $125 on the M11x.

    ASUS' customer service vs. DELL's

i used to avoid RMA'ing ASUS motherboards because of having to deal with their crap

    thats just my experience

Yeah you are right. Im still deciding whether to get the M11x or the upcoming Asus ul30jt. The asus will have an 1.3ghz i7 processor from what i have read, and switchable graphics. Bu the Alienware is just soo sexy :)

Does the Asus have a backlit keyboard? No.
Does the Asus feature a powerful video card such as the 335m? No.

Then it is moot point. I don't care how much turbo boost they claim to have but the Nvidia 210m will never be equal to the 335m.

Since im on the fence between the 2, perhaps you can clarify something for me. Im interested in the M11x, and most of my use will be internet browsing, some music production, and of course gaming. How would the M11x with the 7300 processor perform during heavy tab browsing, and video editing, and converting?

Video editing probably not to well. If you really want to do intensive tasks then get a Core i5 or better processor. This isn't meant for video editing. This laptop is meant for people who want long battery life / portability but sometimes want to play some games on the road.

This is not a desktop replacement laptop.

    Ha...bad,it's 1.3Ghz!
Thats one for the over clocked Ul30! lol
At this point though you can get an G60Vx from BB and an Cheap Netbook for the same price, both doing each job better.

Please explain to me how a G310M will EVER turbo boost enough to compare with a GT335M?

    G310M
    16SP's
    1530 MHz Shader Clock
    73 GFLops
    800 MHz memory
    64-bit

    GT335M
    72 SP's
    1080 MHz Shader Clock
    233 GFlops
    1066 MHz memory
    128-bit

Sorry but they'd have to triple the shader clock just to match the SP power on the GT335M, and no amount of turbo boost will matter. And for gaming, GPU will be limited a lot earlier than CPU will

Let me put it simple: A GT335M will be able to play a good amount of games at the M11x's native resolution. The G310M will not. Period.

It won't people can believe what they want, at the end of the day the M11x will outperform the Asus in gaming....3Dmark Vantage will be close but I think we need to let the actual in game benches do the talking.

Lol. Please excuse me, but I'm not the most knowledgable about these things. I have never used anything with less than 2ghz so I want to know if this m11x will perform like. Netbook when it comes to browsing the web, and watching videos or converting video files for example.

I don't think to many of us can answer that since not many of us have used this processor. If I were you and you have a fry's / bestbuy next to you then go there and look at the display models and find one with a similar processor and try it out.

For US, you can get stackable discounts (Student = 10%) and (EPP = 3%) for the m11x. If you guys have any other discounts applicable to this laptop, please post!

A 14" notebook is in a different position than an 11" notebook. The bigger the size laptop, the more room there is for better, higher energy-consuming components. Comparing the m11x to a 14" laptop with identical components (or worse components) isn't a great comparison since there is a big size difference. The m11x is Alienware's gaming "netbook-size" laptop.

The m11x is the sub 15" gaming notebook. It could be compared to anything 15" and below.

It's Dell marketing saying " this AW m11x, can kick arses , even the 15" size notebook too". :) , but it lack the CPU Power... for now.... lol

Would someone enlighten me in whether it's worth to get the SSD and the 8GB RAM? Those two jacks the prices up terrifyingly.

EDIT: SSD as opposed to the normal ones, because some people said SSD is not that fast in write speeds anyway and they're more reliable, but not magnitudes more than the magnetic ones. And 8GB instead of 4GB. Do you think it'll be as easy to up the 4GB to 8GB? [i.e. hoping prices fall]

I wouldn't go for either of these. You are not going to bench or do intensive virtualization/rendering etc. The CPU is sufficient for many games, so 4 GB should be more than enough. But it's up to you anyways.

I don't get why people are moaning about the price. This is just a bit more than a dual core Timeline and for people who like games it is way better.

I don't like this system, too small and not enough horsepower!
Allthough I see a slightly Ripley disign feature what IMO is a good thing, very AW! :D

Any thoughts on the chances that Dell/Alienware start allowing the i5/i7 to be put inside in a few months? I'd love to have that upgrade option - even for a premium, and would hate to buy now and regret not waiting an extra month to pull the trigger.
