    Hi, just noticed I cannot change the colour of my alien powerbutton. It only uses the two settings. Blue and Yellow, blue for plugged in and yellow for battery. Is everyone else's M11X like this?

    exactly, this is one fine machine. The keyboard is surprisingly awesome for an $800 laptop. but the screen...sooo reflective. In terms of battery, I can get 5hrs of battery life with 75% charge!

    Yeah, Amazon had the Alienware Orion Messenger bag cheaper than Dell, and picked up a nice external optical drive from there as well.

    hey guys... can anyone comment on my previous post? When I put in a larger HDD in place of the 160GB one the M11X comes with, should I just boot Windows 7 from the 16GB SDHC card that with the ISO from the CD the M11x comes with and install that on my new HDD? If so, is there a BIOS option to boot from SD in the M11X? Thanks in advance.

    I would just like to say that, with my M11x and my MiFi, I just won a round of TF2 in my car, while waiting on next appointment.

    Life is good. :)

    Um, the Service Tag/Express Service Code just rubbed off from the sticker they were on.

    I now just have a black sticker with no writing on it whatsoever.

    Um.

    So I noticed that if I tried to make a two finger scrolling motion, the cursor just stopped instead of freaking out like I thought it might if it were actually a single touch touchpad. That meant it recognized that I had used two fingers.

    So I tried installing Scrybe from Synaptics, which worked perfectly and enabled options like two finger scrolling. :) It installs a newer generic Synaptics driver that has a lot of multitouch options that are disabled for some reason in the Dell driver.

    I'm not sure if simply installing the generic driver off of Synaptics site without Scrybe would work, but it might be worth a try if the gestures aren't of any interest to you.

    So are you saying there is multi-touch but it is disabled? That would be great to know. Possibly more perks we didnt know about.

    Synaptics pads, the new ones anyway can be manipulated to understand multitouch gestures.. just that some companies don't issue it ( reasons I'm not sure why..) There's been laptops before macbooks that did multitouch but I guess it just wasn't a big hit. It does exist though with just driver changes and they work just as well it's just a matter of digging and finding

    Correct, the hardware is multitouch but the default drivers disable all multitouch functions.

    Two finger scrolling works great, as do three finger taps and whatnot. :)

    I've installed scrybe but annoyingly you cannot edit the gestures and there is no option for two finger scrolling.

    umm some more are getting overclocking problems now. Update on me though guys its getting picked up 2morrow never gonna deal with dell again crappest company ever period. There customer service is appalling. Was a nice laptop but its nothing if its broken. Did have to pay the £20 which I'm just a bit annoyed with but I couldn't argue any more with them.

    @impruv
    You have to understand that the VT is not built as well as this. The keyboard on the VT has a great amount of flex on it. And, yes, with the proper driver, two finger scrolling is very possible. I did the same thing when I had a SXPS13. I changed the driver and got multi-touch.

    @home
    sorry

    @jonjon; from what I can tell, there have been mixed reactions in terms of flex. Some say there was none, some say a bit, some say none. If there is little to no flex I'm fine with because I can understand they had to skimp out somewhere to get it so light :p

    i dont know about a forwarding company but i use the "Guernsey Post" they have the best weight/prices ratio.

    a word of warning the deliverly company dell use for uk orders, walsh western, take the *£$% with getting orders over here, my m11x was sent 18th, got to the UK yesterday and was ment to be delievered today but it was not. i phoned WW up and they told me it takes a WEEK to get to the channel islands. 3 working days from china to UK..... then 5 days from UK to channel islands !! what ?!?!

    would be quicker to send by royal mail! guernsey post have an arrangement that everything to/from guernsey is automatically 1st class.

    Question about the Alienware head on the back: I noticed that everyone seems to have ordered the stock 3D one. How different do the others look? It's my first Alienware laptop so I just picked the Alienhead Chrome Blue for the hell of it. Starting to wish I did a bit more research on the designs of all of them.

    Thanks

    The alienhead on the back does not change and is not an option. The options when you configured your laptop was purely avatar[picture beside your name in windows/login] and wallpaper

    For gamers, the only advantage the 30vt has is for some of the more demanding emulators (1.73ghz). All 3D games will be better on the M11. Even the emulator advantage may be short-lived if a bios update corrects the M11 voltage issue. Display is also better quality on the M11x.

    the head on the back is the same for all orders. What you picked was either the wallpaper or the avatar aka log-in icon.

    this is freakin' awesome news. I love two-finger scrolling on my old MB and my GF's MB. Best thing ever. I had it on the Dell XPS1640 but it sucked. Hoping it's more responsive on this. Did you just download the drivers from your link and install? that's it??
