So i call dell and ask them about the single 5870 m17x if it has the connector on it to add a second card in crossfire. She says that the single card does not have a connector and I'd have to buy another motherboard if i wanted to upgrade to dual 5870's later. I send her to this forum to show her the picture of the single 5870 with the connector on it and shes like well he must of got an upgraded motherboard or he was just lucky due to stock shortage and they had to give him a card that had the connector and the single card isnt supposed to have it.

He got lucky???? Cmon now why did this rep say the single card does not have the connector when the pictures on this site say something totally different. Should I believe the picture on this site or the rep?

you should get Crossfire if you ever plan on upgrading to CF. upgrading at a later point is expensive.

There are enough threads on the 5870 - pick one and post in it. This should go in the connector thread. Given the release of the 5870s, this forum has exploded with threads on this topic. Its time to reel in the rogue threads/posts which can be added to current discussions. PM me with any questions.

    Thanks.

Upgrading later is definately more expensive, and depending on how you do it, may not be covered under the warranty. Never listen to a rep, they are not technical experts. Believe the pic. No reason for dell to invest in buying two differant type of cards, rather then a whole lot of the same card. Financially it makes more sense.
