    So Dell sells a $20 OS USB recovery key if you purchase it with your system.

    Is this any different from the recovery media you can create yourself at home with the built-in tools on the laptop?

    Different? There's more "Alienware software" (aka. bloatware). Other than that, no, nothing major.

    You can make your own using an 8GB USB 3.0 flash drive with AlienRespawn. This program comes pre-installed on your PC.

    My gosh, yet another 'chargeable' extra. Charging for hats, now media that you can make yourself.........what next I wonder? - maybe paying for your own PSU........

    You already have to with the 180W psu supplied with a 980m .. The system will draw more then that on full load. XD So your forced to buy a bigger psu (not even sure the 240w or the 330w work in the r2's)
