    Heya!

Sometimes when I start Vista, the volume control doesn't show in the taskbar. When I try to change volume using the funky sliding touch-thing (which I hate by the way!), explorer freezes and needs to be restarted. It's a matter of seconds, but afterwards, the error remains.

It also doesn't show anything on screen - even when I go stealth mode/switch camera/switch bluetooth etc., it doesn't show the respective on-screen-display notification (normally in the middle of the screen).

I tried switching the OSDManager.exe off and on, doesn't change a thing.

Any idea what could be causing this? Some program? Maybe there is an OSD update I can download? Thanks very much anyone who can help!!!

Using m15x with Vista, if you need more info about my system, just ask. Cheers!

try re-installing the Command Center and the OSD utility.

Looks like permissions issue to me. Whenever you touch any touch sensitive button system fires a global events and OSDManager.exe is listening to those using WMI. So far its good, but as soon as an event fired OSD hung due to some error (may be permissions not good) and crashed. once OSD is crashed your touch control will still work but does not show any indicators on screen. OSD is responsible for those on screen indicators what has changed.

Next time you reboot and do not see Sound icon in systray, go to Run->Devmgmt.msc (ie. Device Manager) and see if you actually see sound drivers installed and loaded that time. Also go to control panel -> Sound and see what is listed there in Playback tab.

I am not certain what the problem is, its one among the two - Sound card drivers or Permissions. Are you local administrator on system, what is UAC's status ?

    Hey findvikas,

It doesn't seem to be a sound issue, I can still hear music etc., it's most likely to do with permissions like you said. The touch controls still work, it's just the OSD that stops working (and explorer.exe follows shortly).

I guess I should re-install the OSD like whizzo suggested.

EDIT: Thanks guys for replying so quickly and to the point, I appreciate that!

I got new Command Center and OSD, just about to install it - should I uninstall the old OSD and CC first, or just run the setup for each? Don't want to have duplicates running but also don't want everything to **** up by uninstalling the OSD and CC.

Yes, you need to uninstall them before reinstalling

Anyone else having problem with downloading the new Command Center?

Whether I download the file from MyHive, or use the automatic updater (starts when I start CC), it fails to run the installer... :(
