OSD Utility - Area-51 m15x

It won't install - windows 7.

Pissing me off because I can't get into my main GPU running off intergrated 24/7 .

I get error code: 1628

Please help me fix it

Didn't work.

Kinda sucks, hoping it would. OSD manager works, but swapping from intergrated to GPU won't work. Makes me think it's broken (the card)?

 

Did you disable UAC?

 

I don't like disabling UAC because I know that alot of damage can be done when it's off. (I'm very paranoid). But I turned it off, and it worked thanks

This is my first post here .

First of all, a very happy new year to every one.

Now coming to point, I had recently bought the area 51 m15x off ebay
with the following config,
T8100
9800m gt
320 gb
4 gb

well i just got it finally shipped over to me yesterday.
The seller had installed windows 7 already and shipped it over to me.
The first few attempts the system switched between binary and the discrete card seamlessly but at my 5th try the sytem hanged and BSOD'ed.

After which when i tried to switch on the system i could not even see the initial alienware logo(that which appears when u start the lappy) nor any windows 7 starting animation etc. everything just lights up but nothing on the screen.

So after getting frustrated after a few more attempts i started the system and then waited for some time and typed in my windows logon password(in the blank screen) and voila, i heard that windows logon music meaning that system was working but just that display was not seen..

Initially i was under the impression that my RAM had gone kaput but the above case meant it was a display issue rather than with RAM.

Now am really apprehensive whether my gfx card has fried or somthing, but the thing that comforted me was in my desktop when my gfx card fried it would BSOD whenever i start my system rather than a blank screen with everything else working.

So i later learnt from here that we can start the system with binary gfx by holding down the right mouse button and that worked perfectly.
when in binary mode i tried fn + f7, the popup appeared and i restarted but again when it logged into windows it was still binary.

But sometimes after restarting system(after pressing fn + f7) i would get the blank screen again.

So is this issue with reagards to OSD utility or my GFX itself?

So guys any help or suggestion would be highly helpful and thanks for reading.

Do you have an external monitor to plug in to see if is definitely the 9800 card that's giving you trouble?

 

No dhoang, i do not have a monitor with me right now.
Is there any other way to check it out?

I'm afraid not...I had the same troubles as you when my 8800 was dying out. Eventually I wasn't able to boot into Windows with the 8800 anymore. You can try reseating the card. Here's the guide for the 8800 which uses the same heatsink as the 9800. LINK

I am also ordering Artic silver MX2 from the internet, will try to use some of that too and check wether it works out.

The problem is that it logs into windows(can hear the windows log on music etc), it just does not have any display, just a dark greyish screen.

Will update by tommorow, since i do not have any tools(screw driver) to open up the laptop right now.

BTW if it still does not work out will baking the card in oven be of any help?
And this means its not an issue with OSD i guess...
