Hey everyone! The thought occurred to me that it would be cool to have a thread where we could post how-to or tutorial videos and slide shows. This can be for any kind of tutorial you want, be it hardware, software, overclocking, cosmetic modding, etc... Basically, anything relevant to what you do with your Alienware that is awesome and might be of interest to others. The only requirement is that it be primarily in a video or slide show format. No gigantic walls of text or endless walls of photos, please... think multimedia.
Here is a great opportunity to show off your creative talents and help others learn to do new things. If the thread grows to more than one page, I will use this opening post as an index with hyperlinks and a description for each tutorial. For now it is a sticky thread. If there is little interest, I will un-stick the thread and let if fade into oblivion.![]()
If you have more than one how-to that you would like to share, please do a separate post for each to facilitate the index. If you edit the post in advanced mode you can give the post a unique and descriptive subject line.
To kick things off I will open with Alienware M18x and Alienware 18 teardown and GPU repaste videos. I am putting the final touches on them and uploading to YouTube now, so stay tuned for those to be posted.

This video demonstrates the teardown procedure for an M18xR1/R2 and GPU repaste. This video also shows the application of Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra thermal paste.

This video is a teardown and GPU repaste on the Alienware 18. The application of ordinary thermal paste is demonstrated.
Sorry about the narrative being a bit out of sync with the video. The original audio was terrible and I dubbed the narration.

It was still processing. It should be available now. The one for the Alienware 18 is still processing right now.

Just watched the 18 video, thank you for taking the time to do it. After my 18 has a good break in period form being rebuilt ill dive in to repaste. Finally just got my 17 fixed from the onsite tech messing it up. The world is aligning for me again finally.

Great idea & videos, Mr. Fox. Those will be great resources to show those who are hesitant about working on the M18x / 18 or perhaps applying Liquid Ultra.

Thanks for the kind words.
Well, I was hoping there would be more interest in sharing and participation in this thread than what there seems to be. I suppose this thread may not deserve to be a sticky. I'll give it another day or two to see if there is more interest. If not, I will unstick the thread and let it fade into a necro-thread, LOL. -

I suppose it has to do with willingness to record content. Given that once you come up with something, you have to take the time to film it. It looks like you have a monopoly on the teardowns, my friend.
I may post a thing or two, if I get the chance in the next few days. Even if it doesn't remain a sticky, it deserves to be pinned in our lovely useful threads index.
Edit: If this does catch on, it may be worth it to add an index of videos in the first or second post. Title - Author, with a hyperlink to the post number. Just a suggestion.

What about sticky-ing you're useful thread's index (on your signature Brother Fox) or combining it to this video thread.. if possible ?
I have it bookmarked but it took me far too long to make it my 'one shop go to' resource. I'm sure some of the newer members totally miss it.
Just a thought if this thread doesn't get traction.Mr. Fox likes this. -
Maybe this will help a few more people... go full screen 1080p and you should be able to read everything really well.
Notice the AIDA64 Sensor Panel on the right side how the used memory and free memory changes dramatically when I start using the RAM caching. I limited the cache sizes to 2GB so I would not gobble up my 16GB of 2133, but I have two more 8GB sticks of the 2133 coming on Saturday and I can bump those caches up in size with 32GB available.

Here are a couple more... Anyone else have a video tutorial/how-to they would like to share? If so, feel free to post it.
