Ok, after speaking with alienware and dell customer care they are willing to replace my system, didn't give them the go ahead.
Should I go for the ATi cards and not go with nvidia?
ATi customers, you guys having any audio stuttering issues?
    Please let me know.
I may even ask them to upgrade me directly to the i7, but then I'd have to wait until next month......not sure if its really worth the upgrade really, if it involves me paying more money.
I have an extreme core already, I am happy with it, just not happy with the stuttering.
I had to speak to two representatives, this guy after 1 hour tells me his shift is over and transfers me over to the next guy who tried to go over the same steps we went over....I was about to bang my head on the wall.

    Anyways, should I go ATi?
All I really want is this stutter to go away.
They are telling me its the speakers most likely, I showed them this forums and the guy goes "oh"....
Its unreal the amount of people that are having this issue.

Anyways, I need as many feedbacks as I can from the m17x owners that have ATi crossfires please, thank you.

    Ok, I trust you Mandrake!

Still could use more feedbacks :).

Mandrake, you going from Dual ATi to one video card with the new Asus laptop?
    Eheh.
I love the Asus Dead Pixel policy!
If I had the option, I'd return this for Asus, but I like my alienware and the current setup eheh.

I have not seen any post regarding ATi associating with stuttering... Even I have never experience it. If it does, Bios A03 should help, if not...a little.

    9 of 10 rave ATi !!!!!!!!!

I also showed the rep the stuttering on World of warcraft and MW2....the frame rate drop makes baby jesus cry.
The DPC monitor was red like this ||||||||||||||||||||||...
I noticed no issues with no ati drivers, but then no sli....

The first representative didn't know anything.
He said I can use the ATi drivers and the issue would go away, I am surprised how bad the Alienware tech support has gotten.
I told him that in order for that to work properly I needed ATi video cards...

How you get Dell to change your system? Not over 21 days? I thought you have your system for longer than that

I told them I was ***** and alienware told me to call to get a replacement.
Guy was young and it felt like didn't know much...
Its going to be a replacement, Its over 21 days since I bought it from the NBR section, I even got a full replacement monitor for 1 dead pixel on my screen at the bottom.
Technician said they were willing to do that?

Dual 4870s will be much more powerful in apps that can take advantage of dual GPUs. As far as running a single GPU the 5870 should prove to be more powerful but we'll find out when we get them.

Yea, this is the same problem I am having. I started WoW and showed the tech the bad performance I was getting: 15-20 FPS in Dalaran on full settings with SLI on. My old Studio 17 laptop with an ATI 256MB card does at least 20 fps! I even showed him the row of red spikes on the DPC Latency Checker. Plus the temporary hangups I get for a minute or so before all the tasks finally catch up.

I am still in my 21-day window and am going to see what the tech does Tuesday night. He even said I could talk to customer care and try to get them to upgrade me to the ATI cards because he couldn't authorize that himself. I may just do that seeing as how you were able to. It gives me hope.
