there's probably nothing wrong with the systems per se, but just remember that the technology is outdated. hard to find spares, and generally just slower than todays stuff.

EDIT: also, 90 day warranty (and there's a reason for that ;))

For $1500 you could get a new m9750 from Alienware with a nice Core 2 Duo.. or you could get a nice m9750 with dual 8700m gt's for $1649.

Just something to consider.. I started off looking at the refurbished m9700's on Alienware's Ebay store.. and then I decided since I was spending $1200 on that, why not get a new m9750 for $1300? And then one thing led to another and I ended up spending $2300 on an m15x.. lol.

voodoo's ebay store is like this to nice machines but outdated and overpriced. I'd still buy if the prices were right (or better warranties or both)

Re-conditioned machines from AW are ridiculous...have you seen what they offer for trade-in value on their site? For a mint m9700, 2.4gig proc, sli 7900GTS, 2x100gb hard drive they offered $200...then they turn around and sell it for $1200 as a reconditioned machine...what a gouge!
I personally would rather look at my old m9700 collect dust than sell it back to AW so they can make another big profit off it...

I believe also some of them may have cosmetic imperfections. A scratch here and there. They probably only gurantee the HW inside for awhile but the chassis comes as is. You should research the HW on one off of Ebay and the base system for a m9750 or m15x to see which one gives you the bigger bang for your buck.

Dual 8700s are worse than dual 7950s.
