Okay so I'm not that computer literate but i did read the stickies and do a lot of searching and did not find my answer. Got the computer yesterday and have been discovering it with about two hours sleep. I'm wondering, do i need to be updating drivers? Should I ignore drivers until I start having a problem with something? Also I've been seeing a lot of advertising for programs that search your computer and lets you know if there are newer drivers out there for the devices you have. I've seen some of those in the forums and stickies. Can I trust them? Any of them better than others? Should I choose one that is an install and monitors the pc indefinately? If so, any with no bloats?

don't bother with those progs. for all performance components (chipset, HDD, GPU), just keep an eye out for new drivers. for everything else (sound, wifi, etc) just find a driver that works and stick with it.

The only thing i ever updated on my M17 (got it in feb) is Video Drivers.

I strongly believe in "if it isn't broken don't fix it".
