Order questions about m17x

Hi,

I was actually ordered a new M17x a week ago in Canada, but i just decided to cancel the order and ask my friend to help me purchase this laptop, I still have some question befor reorder it on the us website again:

1./ i'm going to use my friend's address, but i'll use my credit card, is it fine to place the order with the personalized nameate and name on credit card is my name but in the ship to info, i have to put my friend's name on it, is that correct??

2./ i saw something when i was at check out process last time saying like "I WILL NOT export/ship this purchase outside of the country" and "I WILL export/ship this purchase outside of the country" or something similar, and I wonder is whats the different (my friend will ship it to me in Canada)

3./ should I order a 128mb SSD or a 320 GB HDD??

4./ does the blue ray driver worth the upgrade??

5./ how good is the tacx alienware headphone and mouse (not out yet but still want some idea if any1 has some clues)

I know that is a lot of questions, hope you guys can help me out especially some of the first questions.

 

1. the ship address should not be a problem, but then again, i have never shipped to canada. they may require the address be same as billing. dunno.
2. if your doing this to avoid taxes and get caught, then that means your arse is cooked and dell/AW will not be held for fees and other associated charges for attempting to get around taxes.
3. i have an SSD, personally i would go with the SSD.
4. meh....not to me at this time.
5. they appear to be rebranded logitech items. the mouse looks to be a cousin of the G9.

 

1. Do you mean the name plate? That doesn't matter what you put for it. I do not know about the shipping/billing addresses, however.

5. Buy your headphones and mouse separately.

 

1) you'll have to ask CS via email or phone. preferably the latter.
2) tax issue. choose what you want, but you're toast if you lied and they catch you
3) depends on how much data you have to store.
4) only if you watch Blu Rays.
5) the TACX headset is a rebranded Steelseries 5H. the upcoming mouse and keyboard are unlike anything i've ever seen, i intend to investigate this matter further when they're available for sale. i'll also try to get one of each from AW for reviewing purposes.

 

If your friend is in canada. Best to order from where you live. If he live in the USA that might help in repairs. I heard storys where someone change there email or seid the wrong address and such and the warrintee void.

Refer to whatAtol said,its really suck to me if thas true, because i' an international student and always jump around many places, so hopfully its not true.
At the moment i live with a homestay in Canada, and I didn't do this to avoiding taxes but the prices in canada are just too overpriced (about more than 1000$ compare to the same spec in US),

By the way, how expensive is a BR dvd movie?? Anynoe has a review of the TACX headphone?? I couldn't dind any on google, the alien mous is really cool, looking for some positive review before buying it.

Whatever you do - make sure you order over the phone. Web orders are actually processed later (2 days later for me) than phone orders. grumble grumble...

 

call your issuing bank and let them add your friend's address as your alternative adress, then theere will be no problem on payment, shipping and billing address dont need to be matching
u better ask your local customs what the import tax rate is, then decide where to buy from
