I got it on order... Utilized the Titanium promotion. M17 with basics, crossfire and keyboard bling. I really appreciate everyones responses and advice. Wish I could have got the dual 4850s but maybe they will be cheaper in 6 months to a year. I am going to be just soooo happy to play games in med to high for once. It has been a very long time for me. (back in the old geforce 59xx days)

I still find it weird that you can't order the m17x with the titanium account but only the DPA. I have one of those too but I would be pushing my budget beyond my limit.

I will probably have many searches and more questions after she arrives.

Neverwinter is gonna rock... I am hoping the new star wars mmorpg comes out soon. (sorry getting off topic)

now I gotta sell some body parts to pay for this thing...

    Thanks again everyone!

Congrats! The M17 is a very solid machine and there is plenty of info here about it should you need it.

You might well be sorry you didn't order it with 4850s, we still don't know whether or not they're going to release it as an upgrade, especially as you now can't order it from Europe. I hope that it's due to stock and not that they'll never be upgradeable.

You'll still love your M17 as it is. The 3870s will handle nearly everything out there, most of them maxed out. You'll be playing most MMORPGs maxed on 1440x900 (I presume you have that screen due to budget) as well as most FPSs.

Titanium Account is Alienware Financing, DPA is the Dell Preferred Account or Dell's Financing program.

Hey that's an awesome machine. Congrats! Hope it comes in swiftly and without any probs!

LOL, I almost ordered the M17 myself, because Alienware ships to APO and didn't charge me a sales tax. But I really liked the specs I could order with the m17x. Luckily my old man said I could send it to him, and he forwarded it to me the day it came in at his house.

Hated having to pay the extra $400 in sales taxes though....

If you'd ordered through AAFES or shipped to APO, you would not have been charged the sales tax. Dell won't ship to APO?

When I tried ordering the M17x through Dell's website, I could use my APO address as a billing address, but it rejected my APO address for the shipping address; I had to select a US street address....

Congrtats! Also ordered my m17 today. I did it with the Crossfire 4850s! It was a really hard decision though between this and the m17x. But with the m17 I got more of what I wanted for cheaper.

My only regret is my m9750 is still going strong. I usually wait unit my previous laptop has kicked the bucket. Well, that is what I get for buying tanks for my laptops :p

Congrats! I hope it serves you well for years to come. So are you a NWN2 fan?

Nice! I was in the same boat. My m9750 is under warranty for another year but I couldn't resist the deal on the M17 with the 4850s. It doesn't bother me though because it's a nice feeling knowing that I have another capable system as backup if anything needs to go back for repair.

Thanks all.. I love neverwinter nights 2 (and the original). I have all the adds.
I really miss some of the old style rpg games. (Baldurs gate, original ultimas, icewind dale) I always wanted temple of elemental evil to be better but the bugs killed it for me. Neverwinter 2 pushes the low to medium graphic cards pretty hard. So I am very stoked to see it on the m17. I am also going to install ARMA and ARMA2 on it. America's army 3. Oh Oh Oh.. this means I can buy the full copy of Crysis!!! I will probably install frontlines fuel of war. COD4. Man... I can't wait. Checked on status today and it is on stage 3... i called the Titanium folks right after I ordered it so they could skip the whole (confirmation) process.

Again thanks to everyone for answering all my questions before. I know it is annoying and Alienware should probably offer some type of incentives for all of the experts who answer so many questions here. You guys are helping to sell hardware!

Well then, you'll be happy with how the new rig performs. The game has never looked so good for me, being able to crank all the textures to the max and putting shadows on high, enabling water reflections and refractions too. I still don't enable point light shadows because NWN2 implementation is horrible and it still bogs things down, bit overall the new M17 plays silky smooth.

Yeah congratulations mate....nice to know the M17 is still going strong.
I really love mine and think its very well built and extremely reliable.

Although I have been sceptical regarding the future 4850 upgrade it may still happen and that would be a bonus. Either way you have a good system and just enjoy it as it should be enjoyed.

    Good luck.
