I cant decide between the 2.53GHz (Duo) and the 2.8GHz (Duo). Where will I notice the difference? (ie. web surfing, browsing folder, installation of programs ect?)

    Thanks!

well best speed better performance but if you try to save some bucks the p8700 with 2.53ghz overclocked to 2.93ghz is quite enough for any game on the market

You won't notice the difference except in encodeing and video and photo work and programming .

I have the 2.4 at 3.01 all dayand I can get up to 3.3

All of the above, BUT, keep in mind the 2.53Ghz only has 3MB Cache while the 2.8GHz has 6MB. That will make some sort of difference when using programs like Photoshop.

I was on the same boat and decided to go with the 2.8Ghz because of the double cache size. You can overclock both. You should try to google info on cache.

    P8600 all the way!

It oc's well and is the better price/performance buy. Mine was getting within a few hundred points to an X9100 in 3dm06 :D

    True.

BUT it still is a damn good proc. It is the lowest cpu available and performs like a stock X9100 when oc'd.

I'll take it as a BASE option all day long. lol

How much will one lose out in the loss of cache if they sacrifice the 6mb cache on the 2.8 and go with the 3mb cache on the 2.53?

    Not much.

Testing has proven that the difference b/w the 2 caches is like 5% at best.
