    Hey there notebook owners,

I've been researching this matter for hours now and I haven't found any answers when it comes to overclocking the processor of an m15x notebook.

From what I've read, it appears that people using SAGER notebooks are able to overclock their processors through software, but us m15x owners can't because we don't know what our clock clock generator is. Do we?

Well I recently just got an alienware, it has been about a month now. I bought a used one on ebay in great condition with maxed out specs (8800m GTX). I also just got a score of 10265 on 3DMark06 as well running Windows 7. I also have the 2.8Ghz x9000 Extreme processor.

I find that my CPU is usually pretty cool compared to my GPU. Normally, Core 2 Extremes have unlocked multipliers. By default, mine is set to 14 multipliers. I read that if you can change from 14 to 15 the clock frequency bumps up to 3.0Ghz.

Anyway, I'm posting this thread because its May 3rd 2009 and all of the threads I've been lurking through appeared to be out dated with no answers.

If anybody has any clue on how I could overclock my processor, I would greatly appreciate it.

    -Chuck

the m15x is not overclockable so far because we don't know the PLL number. why don't you step up and disassemble your laptop to take a look? :)

I have tried all of the PLL's on the latest SetFSB program and none of them work currently for the Alienware M15X. There are like one or 2 that can read the CPU, etc. but when you try to make any adjustments, it locks up, etc. I hope this helps. God Bless :)

Arrrg Alienware. Well thanks for the replies guys. I guess we're stuck with what we bought then.

In terms of finding the PLL, where is it? I might get my hands dirty and really look into it when I decide to upgrade my graphics to the 4870 when I can.

Like everybody else though, I just hope that I don't break the thing.
