    Hey guys,

i Remember opening such thread like 5 months ago and i didn't want to dig it up again, i was wondering if anyone could Actually overclock thier CPU for more than 200mhz, because Clockgen has only allowed me to go from 2ghz to 2.2ghz which isnt really considered an overclock, the 2ghz CPU already serves me perfect, its just i want the bragging rights :D

SetFSB just crashes on me, also i talked to some people who OCed thier Lappies with SetFSB, they were able to OC the laptop to the same amount using Clockgen

Whenever I overclock my CPU, I can only raise it to about 2.15 or else it blue screens. The only problem is that after about an hour or two the computer blue screens even at that setting. Is it even worth doing this if this happens? I feel like I will break my cpu.

it never blue screens for me, my problem is that the software wont allow me to OC above 200 mhz, Will using 800mhz ram sticks help me out?

and @ eleron i mean that the computer hangs (just like if the PLL was wrong) but its the same one i'm using with Clockgen

If the PLL is wrong, you can't even OC, check my guide in the sig for details.
If you got the right PLL, a 2.0 C2D could easily go upto 2.5, but forget and undervolting.

well. then how come Clockgen OC on that PLL. m i dont think i can get mine VIA the motherboard cause Alienware/dell have hidden PLLs, i went to the world records of t7200 and i saw people easily going to 2.4

Well, there is another method, you could go to the SetFsb forum and ask if any user had the AW9750 OCed or ask the creater of the program if he can help you with that...

you need to set the PLL to ICS 950405, then change the 10th element in the first row to 7F. then you should be able to clock higher. i know that is what works for me. i clock it at 2.31ghz, though i've gone as far as 2.5ghz to see if i can do it, and i can.

yes, i did it through clockgen. i'm not quite sure why yours wont let you go past 2.25ghz.

i found out the pll through a long process of searching online haha. this was back in january of this year, prior to many guides being written on OC the m9750. some person knew the pll for the m9750, and i guess i just trusted the guide was right, and it works.

Levenly, i can move the bar to more than 2.25ghz but after pressing Apply, Cpu-z will only detect 2.25ghz, which mean that its not OCed

perhaps i'm in the same boat as you. i just looked at my OC and it's only going to 2.27ghz max regardless if i set to clock it past 2.27ghz (though i can't even select 2.27ghz with the slider). i have 3dmark tested it at 2.4 ghz before.

Brainer, what do you want a screen shot of, my pll configuration for clockgen?

nvm for the screenshot, i'll be getting 800mhz ram soon enough since i think the 667mhz ram is holding back the OC, i'll give feedback ASAP

The thing is , via SetFSB , if you OC the FSB , even the 667MHZ ram can be run at 800 MHz.
I have no clue as to why yours hangs, it should work with the proper PLL...

i know so, sometimes it hangs other times it doesnt.. just to be more comfortable with the OC i'll get the 800mhz ram, since it doesnt matter how much i OC, my ram isnt moving 1 mhz

Make sure you also get AS5 on the thing, it should help overall temps, as would a notebook cooler(Zalman NC2000)...

so basically you're going to OC the ram to run at it's stock speeds then?

@Levenly - Yea basically the 800mhz ram downclocks to 667mhz when you put it in the laptop since the laptop cannot support 800mhz. However, when you overclock the FSB, the ram clock is going up but it is still under 800mhz (depending on the overclock) since the ram is 800mhz ram.

when using the 667mhz ram, it only can OC of a max of 133mhz, BUT when using an already 800mhz ram, you wont be worrying about RAM limiting the OC< thats the theory

so basically you can run the RAM at its regular speeds safer than OCing the default 667 RAM? i'm quite interested in this now since i'm looking to have optimal and maximal performance for my notebook.

let us know how this works out... if it performs nicely i might give it a try.
