    HI guys

my thought is that the problem of overheating, results from the heading the heat from the cpu to the heatpipe.
because i have installed the x9000 on my own and used the "arctic silver 5" paste.

when i stress the cpu, my maximum temp after 20mins 100% stressing is 76 core1 and 75core2

perhaps thats the only problem, so perhaps also for the gpu

EDIT: of course without downclocking ;)

yeah well if we where to try to change the thermal paste that would void our warranty. Nice idea though

There was a thread about changing the thermal paste to arctic silver very early on in the m15x's life where also alienware people contributed. The result of that thread was that the arctic silver was actually not a better compound, and that as taco said, it would void your warranty to do so.

I changed my thermal paste (had to when I went to clean the vents) and it didn't do much other than make it take a little less time to downclock.

i think the point is that you all used to much of the arctic.
    i nearly used nothing ^^
the cpu was still shiny but then in the color of the paste ^^

i also have about 10-20°C lower temps than markus, and we got the same paste and same cpu

I don't coat it before putting on the headsink (meaning I don't cover it before spreading it, like just cover it out of the tube). I have just enough. The fact of it is, is that the grills on my CPU heatsink are smaller than your cause I have one of the first ones built.
