i got the ozma 5. they sound great, nothing really advanced about them other than they sound great. i just wish there was a volume amp. they basically output sound at the same level as the device your using. they also work with my tv reciver and beacuse of the long cord i can play cod4 on 360 and watch conan after everyone else is asleep. for 100 bucks. yes thier overpriced. but there not bad at all . comfortable and they have the AW logo. to each his own, they say.

Congratulations! The AD-700s are the absolute best headphones out there for $100 - $110 in my opinion; I am using them right now. I probably have close to 100 hours on mine and the bass does get marginally better.

What media player do you use? I use a V-shaped equalizer to give the low end a boost and perk up the highs. It's the Rock Equalizer in iTunes; model an equalizer off of that if there are no preset ones in the media player you use.

I use iTunes, but I'm not a big fan of their equalizers. I just let my SoundBlaster card do all that. The best price I could find on the AD-700 from a site that actually had them in stock was Audio Cubes for $150, which was a good price to pay for these. I just played a few rounds of Call of Duty 4, and these headphones make a huge difference than anything else I've tried plus they're extremely comfortable. So far, really happy with these. They put any speakers or headphones I've ever heard to shame.

Sorry to stray off-topic and threadjack, but can anyone recommend good "around the neck" audiophile quality headphones? I dislike "on top of head" type headphones (I hate headphone hair)...

I am using Shure SE505. The ultimate best audiophile in-ear phone. So good I hear nothing outside crysis. Bass is tight and treble has natural high.

    But cost a bomb.

My OZMA 7s work fabulously and produce a stunningly crisp and separated sound...using them during Oblivion is down right nutty and when playing STALKER, well, i wet my pants :) !

Bummer to hear they're not working for you...my regrets...is there any chance they're defective and you can get a replacement/refund?

    later,
    pat!

This is awful because I wanted to buy these but I guess I can find somthing better. Does anyone know of a store where you can test different headphones?

They were probably defective, but I got a refund and got the Audio Technica ATH-AD700, which are amazing. The only headphones review site I could find (GoodGearGuide) said that these had an amazing sound that's similiar to what you'll find in the $500-$600 'phones, so these are a steal for $110-$150. It's good to hear you enjoy them. Do they feel uncomfortable after a few minutes of wearing them? They did for me, but that's probably more of a personal opinion.

Only independently owned music stores (I doubt you'll find any these days) will let you try headphones. I'd go for the Audio Technica, though. These are extremely comfortable and sound amazing.

i think my sound setup is gonna be the greatest, i mean not bad for price atleast
im getting the creative external souncard connecting to a Headroom airhead amp by a mini-mini cable, then having my AKG K601's connecting to the amp.
ill be getting the neat features of the x-fi card (3d and eax for games n movies) and getting an amazing drive to my headphones from the airhead amp, and combining those 2sound enhancing devices with my K601's... audio heaven

MichaelsD01: I'm really enjoying my 7s, so much in fact when I order my new AW desktop, I'll be getting a second pair so that my son can use the old ones if he wants. Ergonomically, I love them because of how soft the padding is and the pressure points seem to be equally spaced around my ear...now that COULD be because I have a charlie brown head! The other thing I really like about them is that the response/reproduction is so crisp and the padding blocks out most ambient noise so well that the volume can be much lower and still be crisp and separated...this is VERY important when dealing w/ hearing loss and damage done to your ears. If my eight year old son wants to wear a pair of headphones, THESE i'm comfortable with because I don't have to convince him to turn the volume down to a safe level...

Well, just my two pennies worth...I do love the headphones...now i did NOT shop around much, so I'm not comparing them to anything else that may indeed be better...i just know I like these!

    later,
    pat!

The Ozma 7's are not good headphones. Basically they are just a marketing gimmick used by alienware. I have a friend that has them and they really don't stand up to my Bose Tri-ports. If you guys want a good headphone that you can wear for hours on end get the tri-ports, they are really comfortable.

I traded in my old laptop and used the credit to get a pair of the Ozma 7 headphones. They have no hissing sound at all to them and they do produce a bit of a detached sound. I've not used many 'can' headphones before, just in your ear but the sound Ozma's produce much nicer sound because even at high volume it doesn't sound like its coming from inside your skull.

The noise 'cancellation' is really just blocking since there is no electronics involved but I wear them when using my Dyson vacume cleaner and can't hear it at all. Anyone who's used a Dyson knows how noisy they are!

You guys are misunderstading everything, the OZMA 7 is made by ULTRASONE and they are a fantastic brand and many people swear by them. However alot of them is for referencing and may not sound good for games but just take a look at the reviews for HFI-700 series for example and the OZMAS are just those but with an alienware logo.

Well then I guess they just may not be as good for games. I really do have to say that the Tri-ports are the most comfortable headphone that money can buy.

Yeah and so many people say how the BOSE are all full of cr*p and all and that we are paying so much for an average head set.

Although having said that, the tri-ports are very light and comfortable and i also personally like the design and fit, just not the sound so much. I use an HFI 780 series and its awesome for everything.

Yea I really like the lightness a lot. They are great since they are not as bulky as other headphones that I have used.

    - no power button
    - way too much bass
    - games dont sound that great with them.
    - lots of buzzing with cell phones and other devices around.

these headphones are 200... i have the bose sound cancelling ones for 300 and they are the best investment. if u dont wanna spend another 100 u can get the normal bose ones for 150 i think. id return them if there not exactly what you want. U can go into the mac store and try them out.
