Meh, articles like that are just clickbait, and don't contain a lot of useful information. PCWorld makes articles like that all the time, and it never appears that a lot of research went into them.

A good spot for it, it was great due to the 8800m GTX but build quality issues left it lower on the list

    I agree 100%

Here's the description from PC World:

"62. Alienware Area-51 m15x (gaming laptop, starts at $1500) Beneath the unearthly glow of its facade, this scary-powerful gaming-oriented notebook houses two high-end nVidia GeForce 8800m GTX graphics boards."

Someone needs to tell PC World that the year ends after December, after the fat, red dude shows up.

I actually believe m15x is one of the best products of 2008, excluding its built quality.

We still have the other half of '08 left. Why would they make a list so soon?

Did anyone else realize that the m15x was PC World's "top laptop" until the Dell Studio 15 came out? I think it deserves the award, feature-wise. Amazing battery life, SmartBay, and great performance in a cool-looking 1.3" thick chassis. Despite all of the problems that Alienware has had so far, those features are pretty hard to beat and impressive any way you look at it. I probably won't buy one, but I'm looking forward to seeing and using one in person at DigitalLife in NY in September. Yeah, I'm a geek, but you probably knew that by now ;).

the gaming performance isnt too great on the studio line.

wow you go to digital life too. i go every year since i get free tickets. every year me and and my friends get so many shirts. the fps tournaments are pretty fun too. in 2007 we were so close to winning the iphone in that raffle >>. at least we got the belkin n1 vision :D

i also remember one of my friends staying at the toshiba place for all 4 days and won 3 laptops

EDIT:thought you were praising the studio line with those features. man i have to learn to read :(

Yeah, the company that does Digital Life is an idiot for giving away a code that lets you get free tickets. But still, it's sweet going for free. Me and a friend went in '06, it was alright. I skipped last year because I didn't think there was going to be anything too great. Digital Life isn't really a big deal for hardware companies. Until I saw that Dell announced their XPS M1730 there! That looked amazing to go try out. There's definitely a lot more stuff I want to see this year, especially the Dell XPS M1730, Alienware m15x (I've wanted to see this and play around with it for a long time), Alienware m17x, ZCam ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AAT...-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=fir), Novint Falcon ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjAx...&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&hs=aBB&q=nov), those sweet new Samsung and Philip 3D TVs and monitors, and there'll probably be a lot more cool stuff!

its a pity they couldnt get the facts right first.
the m15x has one 8800 card and not two. now i wonder if they got confused with the m17x

Maybe they should also make "The biggest dissasters of 2008" and Include the M15x as the number one.

    Hi otaku,

I guess you where the smart one as most users with issues have the 8800 which seems to be to hot for AW to handle.. and that causes less issues all around
