Parts reported on back-order - what have YOU been told?

I figured with all the varying reports, what parts from this list (as best I could tell that have been brought up) are causing delays in fulfilling orders?

If other please post what part if you could. I personally have been told the RGB LED Screens and Intel Wireless are on back-order.... by my "rep posse"

 

I was told today that 2 parts are backordered for my configuration. 1st one was the 500GB 7200rpm hard drive. She didn't know what the 2nd one was.

im not being told anything

 

I called and my rep told me something was on backorder and that she would check with the factory what that was. She called back the next day saying that the factory still had not replied and she did not know what the part was. She did say she would check up on Monday again. Also my EDD was pushed back another week...

I was told the DVD drive and also the Hard drives.

Most possibly the LEDs, i ordered on 2/2 and got pushed back from 2/10 to 2/23. -_-

 

I am looking at a full refund and tell dell take this laptop and shove it. I will give them untel the 2/25/2010

 

The 500 gig 7200 is one of them

 

if i dont get mine on 2/23 like they said, i'm asking for a refund.

 

hmm my order is still in production and i havent gotten a email about any cancelation and they even moved the date back to the 25th of march but they put the money they put on hold back in my bank account should i worry?

Yep, its an EOL colour now, if you oder it on the site you MAY be lucky, but its no longer an option if you call up and configure, they simply wont do it. Its BS! Who the hell had the bright idea of canning the most popular colour?!?!

 

becuase dell are trying to rid alienware design now ( their killing alienware ) all you will have will be the xps peice of crap looking things in the futre.

This is simple, black is the most popular color, it sells out first.... i don't know where you got EOL from unless the rep said something to this effect on the phone. Please clarify.

I don't think so, Dell had no "competition" from a boutique brand like Alienware, rather Dell bought them to HAVE a boutique brand for both marketing and for margin. Dell has lots of the same parts for the XPS and AWs.... they can buy more in bigger lots at better prices. The savings go to.... them, not you! At the same time, reviewers like playing with AW systems, and like sports cars that car companies make no real money on directly but see increased sales due to the "halo effect", Dell expects and probably gets an increase in overall sales volume.

Removing the Alienware styling and name would defeat the purpose of buying them in the first place. If anything, the fear is AW systems will loose their edge and just become fancy branded Dell XPS systems....

 

Yes, I phoned in, and it was confirmed by a Sales rep & tech support.

This is how it went:

Me: "I've decided I'd like to oder an M17x"

Rep: "Ok, can I get your details? *Details Given* Now, what options would you like to have configured on your system?"

Me: "Lets start with something simple *haha* I'd like it to be Black"

Rep: "Space Black? Oh, hang on, can you hold?"

Me: "Yes..."

Rep: "Its out of stock"

Me: "Whens it in stock?"

Rep: "Please hold *Time wasted* Sorry, but I've been informed that Space Black is at EOL, so end of life."

Me: "What, why? !"

Rep: "It was EOL as of last week." (Friday 5th of Feb = EOL)

Me: "Thanks, i have to think about this, bye"

Since then Ive purchased online with the space black option, if it comes in red or silver I'll spit chips, if it comes in Black I'll repost, if they call up telling me no black is available anymore, I want free upgrades for this stupid EOL crap on a damn bit of paint!

Before anyone asks, I did call another agent to ask for it, and pretty much the same thing happene, except they had my details on record that time =/

 

Space black seems to be available fine in the US.

 

When you order a system. Why dont they show the list of what being on Backroder so people can go ok this item is on backorder. I will order this or that instead.

 

They sometimes do. Why not do it now with the m17x is beyond me.

 

Yeah, I recall the website used to say "May Delay your Order"...now that everything delay's the order, I guess they just gave up

 

They told me it was the 500GB HDD.

 

New info on the No Space Black subject in Australia.

I spoke with the manager and she said its not available at the current time due to massive orders on space black over the other two colours, so much so that they can't get supply for the next 3 months, but she said it is likely to be 4 or 5 months before they can get stock in, so for now they're ending the orders of black.

So i suppose its similar to what happened with Blu-ray drives in the USA.

I be calling today and see if they have info on the hold up. I was going to call Monday but everyone and there Grandma would of been calling.

I got a call that said it was the led but he didnt give me a date or anything.

 

They just told me the ATI 4870 crossfirex is on back order.......
