just checked my online status and I'm now officially on Phase 5: (Production Phase 1 - Assembly) for my m9750.
17" WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 LCD
Genuine Windows® XP Professional with SP2
core 2 duo T7600 2.33GHz
1GB Dual Channel DDR2 (soon to be 4gb dual channel I know I know, don't say it)
Dual 512MB 7950 GTX - SLI Enabled
200GB 7200 RPM SATA (soon to be 2 x 200gb non-raid)
8x Dual Layer CD-RW/DVD±RW Burner w/ LightScribe Technology
can't be long now! btw I am not a big fan of the m17x and m15x machines, they are fugly IMHO so would not even consider them over the m9750 which is really something special! Taking this bad boy to medschool with me wooot!
PS any UK customers, how long was it till delivery from the phase 5 in your experience please?
-
=/ but why did you do it?
-
Congrats
You'll love the machine
-
Hmm, I don't like the 1GB of RAM, it's going to bottleneck everything.
-
I ordered mine with 1 gig of ram and upgraded later, 2 gigs does make a difference
-
i said in my first post, I'm ordering 1 gb and upgrading to 4.
can't wait!! -
Do not get 4Gb of Ram! If you are sticking with XP it has a cap of 2gb unless you get 64-Bit.
-
Congrats.. my machine also went Phase 5 today. 7600 with 2x200, Dual-7950, 1Gb (upgrading via retail),
the race is on! -
KockM, more likely at least 2.5GB and maximum of 3.25GB, but don't upgrade to 4 as you will not be able to use more than 3.
-
Thats the motherboard not the OS. The OS has a cap aswell.
-
I was wrong nevermind. Sorry. Thought Windows XP's cap was 2GB for the longest time.

Congratulations on the purchase - the dual Go7950GTX cards will be a force to be reckoned with for some time yet I imagine, they are almost as powerful as a single 8800M-GTX in synthetic benchmarks.
Note that the M9750 will never be able to see all 4GB of RAM, even with a 64-bit operating system. The most it can see is 2.5GB. -
Just to confirm - a 2Gb memory stick and one of the 512's in the 1Gb factory install will work together? -
Now in Phase 6 Integration!
I talked to a phone representativeand they suggested possible ship by Friday if it passes QC.
I called primarily about upgrading to 2-day ship, as my business travel just got spiked. I learned upgrading shipping would actually delay the order by a couple days due to paper work changes - and that frustrates my immediate travel schedules - I might have to cancel the order if I'll have to depart before scheduled arrival. Sigh. -
Grats, I ordered mine on Monday 01/07/08, it went to phase 4 today, but i just went to check and it went back to phase 3...
EDIT: Just checked again, I'm in Phase 5. Yay me. -
The phases on the website are not accurate. When I had an Alienware I jumped from phase 3 to 5 to 9 in one afternoon. The most accurate status check is to call.
-
In Phase 8 - QC.
Me thinks they want a clear line by Friday. -
still phase 5

grats, mine is in phase 6 today...

Don't forget to upgrade Windows XP to Service Pack 3, I did and it works really well. I'd start down loading all the latest drivers and burn 'em to a CD for quick updating of the hardware drivers once you get it.

the computer i am currently using, doesn't have a CD Burner... as for hardware, everything will be new, I ordered the laptop with a razer lachesis mouse, and thats it. The last piece of hardware is probably going to be a all in one, printer scanner copier, and i have yet to pick one out...
-
phase 6 integration today - can't be long now. They only have to install the operating system and then check it. At this rate it should come way before my estimated delivery time...
-
Reached Ft. Worth after two days travel - another 1000 miles to go... Should see it Monday, or if they sit on the truck, probably Tuesday.
Vodka - did yours go out? -
mine went out via fedex on thursday est delivery date tuesday 01/15, can't wait. Mine left Orlando yesterday to arrive in NY...
-
My m15x entered phase 2, the billing guy said I should start phase 5 today. Hopefully they live up to their 1/17 ship date, but he said it's more like a 1/22 ship date.
The wait is killing me -
Mrwater - pics and a review when you get please?
-
I'll take pics and let everyone know how it is, but I got the $2099 preconfig with the 8700gt, not the 8800. Most people already know what type of job the 8700 does, but I'll post a summary of how it handles stuff

Order shipped!!!!
I can't believe it! Thats over a week before estimated date of delivery! Not sure how long it takes to get to me from this point but can't be that long - after all, the UK isn't that big a place
Full user review, pics, and maybe an unboxing vid to come...
M9750 with ram, second hardrive, and cooling pad waiting for it!!!!!! -
Congrats!
My m9750 should arrive tomorrow - Tuesday. Fedex tracking has been quiet - however I expect its been locked up in a semi-trailer somewhere in Vegas the entire day. They'll scan it sometime early AM no doubt. Then comes the fun of installing development, office and game software. -
-
Delivered!
Completed installing essentials - Razer, Kaspersky, FireFox, so on. A couple blackouts around Kaspersky, seems to have settled out. Time to fetch drivers, upgrade memory, install a game, see what this puppy can do.
Happy Delivery everyone else! -
grats Arkarch welcome to the m9750 Owners club
this baby wont disapoint you
-
congrats to the new owners. I am in phase 4 (since yesterday evening) with my m15x (2.8ghz, 8800gtx). The estimated ship is 2/4/08. I am hoping that it will be early. Any possibility of that with a new product?
-
-
For those getting new m9750's with XP Pro. I got the new BIOS 0F04. Not documented on Hive yet. I had some interesting issues I just reported in the m9750 Owners Lounge. Not sure if its related, could have been many other issues.. but lets share notes.

this fedex site is killing me even worse than the alienware one did. my laptop hasn't had any updates since 1/19, where it says that it's "in transit" from orlando, fl.
i get so many conflicting responses from searching. some people say that fedex is slow to update, some people say they're fast. some people say they never update until a day after they ship, some people say that they update as often as possible.
not knowing where my $2300 laptop is, is far worse then not knowing when it'll be finished in the factory.
i'm crossing my fingers that they just didn't update the site... for 3 days. -
They update whenever they feel like it. Sometimes I get a record of every single place my package stops at, other times I don't get a single update until after the package has already been delivered. It's all a matter of luck.
As for the holiday, UPS was still delivering so I would assume Fedex was as well. I'd guess you just weren't lucky enough to get any updates -
finally i got some updates, my laptop hit NJ at 5pm. i'm in NYC, so it should still be on track for tomorrow's delivery date
-
MICHAELSD01 Apple/Alienware Master
Awesome, man! I can't wait to see some pictures
! I hope I can order my m17x soon. If I ordered a m15x I would've already got the notebook because I live in NJ
.
-
mrwater.. We are waiting on your laptop review LMAO.. No pressure. no pressure. I bet you won't sleep tonight lol. Wierd how technology makes us all act like kids again LMAO.
-
i guess you're right, i have been throwing online tantrums when i get angry at anything that gets in the way of my laptop
yes yes, i'll take pics and crap tomorrow as long as i get it, if you hear about something crazy in NYC on the news (something really crazy), you'll know who it was and that I didnt get the laptop -
-
my m9750 just reached stage 9 today! Yah! should be getting it really soon. I hope everyone else gets their systems soon as well, the anticipation of waiting is messing with my day to day activities lol.
Phase 5 baby yeah!!
