My computer is coming with t8100 2.1 processor, 1gig memory *replacing with 2 sticks of Gskill mem for a total of 4gigs, a 512MB Geforce 8700M GT and 1gig of turbo cache memory.

I searched the forums daily waiting on my m15x and I haven't really found much talk between the difference of a t8100 2.1ghz and a x9000 2.8ghz processor. I sure there's a difference, but I was wondering if someone could give me some fps numbers and encoding time differences so I could see how big of an impact my m15x would have with a x9000 installed instead of my t8100.

I plan to use my m15x for gaming and encoding movies mostly, along with surfing the internet. Basically, it's gonna be my day to day workhorse computer.

By the way, has anyone noticed AW isn't offering the Turbo Cache memory with the m15x any more?

The heat is one reason I don't want to max out the m15x. If the fps and the encoding times are drastic, then I'll probably get a 2.5ghz and upgrade it myself, but if the difference is withing say 5-8fps and encoding times of 10 seconds or so, I don't see the need to spend so much on a cpu that's gonna get pretty hot. Who knows, maybe the t8100 also gets pretty hot, but I haven't heard anyone complaining about it, except maybe that it isn't as powerful as the other processors.

Just got the e-mail I was hoping for. AW says my computer has shipped. Says Saturday delivery, but I don't think FedEx delivers on Saturdays.

I got the t8300 with the 8700 and it works just fine you cant max out the latest games but crysis plays on medium and rise of the argonauts on 1440*900 and you have more battery life in comparison with the x9000 and the 9800 :)

Thanks for the info guys. Should still be better than my geforce 7800 gtx, intel4 3ghz 1gig mem desktop. Eventually I'll buy the gpu upgrade.

    The 8700 is basically a overclocked 8600m.
