    OK,

this picture was originally posted my mingocr83 who says he is an A.W. employee.

I increased the brightness to bring out the detail of the laptop.

Don't know if this photo is official or not but it does look pretty sweet! :notworthy:

No more front load optical drive.

All I know is I want one!

    New laptop.jpg

I posted the original pic a couple posts below.

if it's indeed a new AW laptop, it's at least 17" with a number pad on the right side (indicated by the offset mousepad). id doesn't look like the keyboard will be chiclet-style. where's the aforementioned fingerprint reader?

Check out the original. I just increased the brightness and reduced the contrast so you can see the detail.

If this is true, then everyone else that bet their souls it was an M17x refresh just got slammed dunked.

Wonder if the choice to pick the side colors is there, or better yet, some AlienFX control type thing. I can only wonder what the lid will look like on this thing.

I'm starting to give more credence to the build-up now!

Now all we need is a "leaked" spec sheet. :D

Lol...Noooo haha... anyway it looks like a new Chassis, actually looks similiar to the W90 chassy... Or perhaps they went of the M1730 and changed some exhaust ports

If they are "ports" they would be for intake or speakers.

Don't think they would have them blowing hot air on someone.

No I meant speakers sorry for not clarifying.... and as I think those are speakers I think this is one massive Laptop... Maybe 17" but I'd put my money on 18.4" at least this one

18.4" so what is the ratio of the screen then ? => 16:9 <= ???
    I'd like 16:10.

Could the peanut gallery just confirm beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is no new 15.4 chassis coming out so I can go ahead and order an m15x?

And I have no idea how you guys are speculating as to anything based off that pic, if this weren't a laptop site I would have guessed an advert for an auto parts manufacturer or something.

    Peanut gallery?

I don't know who you're talking to, but this is exactly the correct place to discuss and speculate when given a picture like this.

Did you look at the picture? I think it's pretty apparent that it's a laptop and not "auto parts".

Trust me it's a 17" and that's definitely the front below the touchpad area.

Everything above that looks more like a regular m17x. I have no idea about the back behind the LCD, but I'm sure it keeps along the same lines.

And cuib, you can never be sure of anything.

Lol, First off no I cannot confirm they won't release a 15" but I seriously doubt they will... and Why buy the M15x when you can buy a Sager 8662, with Quad support, 4gb DDR3, and the new GTX 260m... It is better than the M15x not to mention cheaper, check it out www.Xoticpc.com it is in the gaming rig section

That doesn't stop Alienware from making their own new 15-inch laptop and call it the most powerful 15-inch even though it may not be. :)

we've only got one picture so far. We really have no idea what else they are releasing. I seriously doubt all this hype will be over just one change to the entire line-up.

By the sound of these lines in the source code perhaps they are releasing more than computer.

Perhaps it's time to add a 3rd computer to my sig :D (assuming it's not a 17" or 10" lol)

Man, I want it to be big, like borderline scary he he, then I'l consider it.

I'm excited, I love the the little extra touch Alienware puts on their laptops, even if it is expensive... If it can compare to the Sager 9280, then I'll consider buying it :D

Haha well it's fun to feel like a child waiting for christmas, as long as you get a present you like ;)
If that'd happen then I think they'd lose alot of potential customers, and it would make more sense to build an exclusive system anyway. *crosses fingers*

Is "peanut gallery" a putdown of sorts? I have no idea what it means, it's what my grampa calls us when the young ones are all together. Re the pic I was just saying how on earth can you guys see anything in that, not that it's wrong to look and say. I seriously would not have known that has anything to do with computers.

    Not going to happen.

    the mALX was a re-branded Clevo M590K.

AW is not going to Clevo anymore after 2006 since a certain someone ;) broke the news and make it public to inform people that there are many great Clevo vendors that have way better pricing and customer service for same exact systems.

AW will definitely try to stick with exclusive models (like the Quanta systems, M15x and M17x) to make the most possible profit.

m15x has igu + discrete gpu and a smart bay for second battery. I know of no other rig that has this combo. I'm willing to eat a dated chipset and all the rest just to have it. (H264 vids with CoreAVC from SF to NY with battery life left over. Try that on a Sager.) Plus Sager doesn't give you a klingon nameplate.

Ideally though AW would make a new 15.4 with smart bay, but I'm not the kind of person that good things happen to.

It is entirely possible that they would go with an 18.4 screen for blu-ray compatibility. That would also give them a bit more space inside for cooling the gpu(s) and aim at both the gaming and entertainment markets.

18.4" display notebooks... and we're talkin at 16:10, so what the equiv of a 22" notebook back in the 4:3 days? Jesus just go for the whole pig and make your next laptop a desktop and include a Thule carrying case to mount on top of the car. The benchmarks would scream for sure. Maybe include chiropractic care in the warranty too. My back isn't liking the 15.4 I currently have, and my mom's 17" dell just about herniated half my discs that time I tried to pick it up with one hand. I'm just trying to picture you prospective buyers for this monster, I'm seeing you guys in muscle shirts all 'roided up and ready to rage.

18.4" is 16:9. It's got the height of a 17" 16:10 screen, the width of a 19" 16:10 screen, and the total screen area just over a 17" 4:3 screen.

Yeesh. You want a 21" laptop?

If they really wanted to make my e-shorts snug Dell/AW would team up with Ideazon ditch the numpad and add a zboard gamepad to the left of the keyboard.
