I am just about to purchase a second hand Alienware R2
i920xm/dual card/8 ram/RGB/Raid 0..... ect ect !
I be meeting in a place with wifi and electricity plugs so I can do some test before purchasing.
I have no experience with Alienware laptops, could you please point out for me the must important things, to be check before purchasing.
For example ruining the grafique cards, witch boton I have to push to make sure they are on load?
Haw can I know if there are 2 grafique cards ?
Is there any software I can run to make sure there are no issues with this unit ?
I have hear that it seems some R2 units or all units with the i920xm coupled with ati cards were having some issues![]()
If that is true how to make a test on that ?
Any other advise are must welcome !
Million thanks![]()

The only issues that the 920 had with dual ati config had to do with power draw, this issue was resolved with the latest bios update.
You can check through device manager to see what hardware is on the laptop.
As for the dual gpu, check ccc and make sure it has xfire enabled.
I would suggest playing a game or two on it and checking the temps to make sure everything runs well. -
Also make sure the service tag on the bottom matches whats in the BIOS and it has a legitimate copy of Windows on it. Make sure it has the product key sticker on the bottom. It may be under the battery. Call the seller and request that he bring the reciepts from the purchase and check his ID to ensure that he is indeed the original owner.
Oh, and a piece of friendly advice. Take somone with you. Perferably a big intimidating person. Maybe just to watch your back to ensure that your not going to be jumped for your money. Maybe keep them at a distance to just watch in case something happens. Keeping him away from you would not scare the other person away. They may think if you came with somone else right by your side, your in it to steal the laptop. Just play it safe. I've seen a few people get screwed. -
DR650SE I sended you a message -
Then go to dell's website and enter the service tag. It will give you the config of the PC.
Once you have the config it was ordered from you can easily crosscheck what is in the actual PC by checking the BIOS and Windows for CPU, RAM, etc... -
Planing in pouchasing a 3 months old R2 day after tomorrow
