This is the config. im thinking about:

    15.4" WideXGA+ 1440 x 900 LCD (720p) with Clearview Technology
    512MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800M GTX
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7500 2.2GHz (4MB Cache 800MHz FSB)
    1GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 667MHz – 2 x 512MB
Intel® Turbo Memory (1GB) – Accelerate Data Transfer Speed
    120GB 5,400RPM (8MB Cache)
    8x Dual Layer Burner (DVD±RW, CD-RW)
AlienFX® Illuminated Keyboard – Exclusive Design
    3-Year AlienCare Toll-Free 24/7 Phone Support w/ Onsite Service
Microsoft® Office Home and Student 2007 – Factory Installed!

    TOTAL: $2,679.00

I planned to spend around $2500 on this laptop, so this estimate is a little higher than what I would like.

    A few questions:
    1. Is it worth it to get the 8800M GTX with a 2.2 ghz processor, will it still work as good?

    2. Is it better to get 2gb of ram or 1gb of ram and 1gb of turbo ram?

    3. Help me out, anyone have any suggestions for a well equipped m15x for around $2500-2700 including the 3 year warranty and microsoft office home and student?

Alright I can help you out on a few things.

    1. The Core 2 Duo @ 2.2Ghz will be fine for you. Most games do not require a lot of CPU power anymore and rely heavily on the GPU (only exceptions is really Source games like HL2 + CS:S).

    2. Turbo Ram is garbage, do not waste money on that. Instead, buy just 1GB of ram, then just buy a 2GB stick off of newegg for around $50 if you can find it. That way you can remove one of the 512MB sticks and you will have 2.5GB.

    3. Sorry but I don't have the time to try to make a good config, what you have right there looks very good though except for the turbo memory.

Also: Read here about the M15x, I will not give any opinions since I do not have the notebook. You can PM other users here who own it about their experiences, or read some of the reviews here if you would like to know about the M15x from a consumers standpoint.

Thanks bro, I do play a lot of games off of steam including hl2 and css, so do i need a better processor for that kind of stuff?

I've configured like three times in the last hour and prices for parts keeps changing (a 2.4ghz processor is now a $75 upgrade, cheaper than the 2.2), I think Alienware is actively updating the site because the $1499 base price was just released, I'll check tomorrow and configure another version without turbo memory

Well I play CS:S and DOD very well on my M9750 with the specs you see in my sig. I get around 166FPS with everything maxed on the stress test in CS:S. If you have the money you may as well upgrade to the 2.5Ghz with the 6mb cache though because extra cache can come in handy at times. Don't sweat about it though, the 2.2 / 2.4 / 2.5 are all great processors.
