Post my Problem here, better than in the Driver Section..
I install the new Nvidia Driver 174.74.
Than run 3DMark 06 and get only ~ 6000 Points..
The Info says from 3D Mark "Device 1/1. Think that Programmm, i have only 1 GPU, or is that normal?

Why? Have i done something wrong? Sli is activate in the System..
PS: Alienware testet my Notebook with 3Dmark too and has 8.491,00 Points.. What? How?
-
try 174.31
-
AW runs the 3dmark test at the native res of their notebooks. Did you run the test at 1440 x 900?
-
Ok try the other driver..
Run 3D Mark with 1280x1024..
Post my Score in few Minutes.. -
7421 3DMarks
Thats 1000 Points lower than that from Alienware..
Whats wrong here.. Think 1000 Points are much.. -
Are you sure SLi is enabled? I don't own a SLi config, but that's just a hunch.
-
-
Set it on High Performance Mode?
-
Yes,its in High Performance.. Is it, because i have some Programms on my HDD? Not really i think.. On both HDD`s are 80GB free..
Or is it he Service Pack 1? -
Hoshie - I get 7600 3dmarks which is a bit low for my "category". I have no idea why though. Post your individual scores though (CPU, Shader, etc.), not the combined total.
-
Have you checked to make sure that in your 3d properties you are not in single card mode? If you are, change to one of the sli modes and see if your score goes up.
-
Ok.. here i go.. This are the Point from 3DMark06
This are the Points from Alienware
You can see a big differnt between SM2 and SM3 Score..
Here is a picture, sli is activated..
Tomorrow i make a Test.. Reformat Vista, install the Drivers and run again 3DMark without any Programms on a fresh Vista.. Or must try a different Driver.. Really dont know why i have a low Result.. -
Yes SLI is enabled but you have to go into the 3D properties and check the settings to make sure is doesn't say single card. Follow the excellent SLI guide stickied and it should solve your issue.

Did alienware do their benchmarks at the same resolution and with the same settings?
-
Think, Alienware take the Basic Standart Version. i do the same, but i cant read from the Alienware Letter the Settings..
But some Guys got 9100 Point out the Machine..
Ok run the Test again with the Setiings some Posts above..
Rendering 2 and have lower Points!!!
Can someone Post Benchs from his 9750? How get some People over 9000 Points? -
Some of the guys probably overclock that's why it's so high...
maybe overheating? What temps are you getting for the GPU? -
Nope.. Put Arctic Silver on it and the Cards hanging at 80 Celsius.. Ok, but how can Alienware 8400 Point without any overclocking and i 1000 Point lower.. Cant understand this...
I try now the same Driver like Alienware..
Maybe that is the fault.. -
Hoshi,
I would not give too much credit to Alienware's score. I firmly believe they test all systems at 1024x768. I also have m9750 but with Windows XP installed. My score from Alienware is ~9500 but I cannot get this number without lowering my resolution to 1024x768. At 1280x1024, my score is ~8500 which has been determined to be the norm around here.
The real question should be are people with a similar system configuration and OS getting the same number you are?
Also, taking a look at Stone's score (He says his score is 7600, yours is ~7500) with the same configuration you have, I would say your score is right where it should be with Vista as the OS. -

I had issues like this with my M9750, it got poor 3DMark06 scores but with the original Alienware drivers it was fine. It's all in the drivers. I forget how I fixed this. See if you can install the drivers for both cards manually.
-
@Chaz - Yea if you remember how you boosted your 3dmark06 score that would be great since I am also flustered why I can only get 7600 - 7800 Marks.
-
I also get around 7600 SLI on my m9750 (Vista OS). I have tried multiple drivers over the past 6 months and none give a higher score than 7600 in SLI. The real disappointment with SLI is that it doesn't seem to improve game performance-at least on the games I have tried.
-
Try the original Driver from Alienware.. And get now only 7100 Point.. I get down with the Points.. lol
But know i have no desire to test it again.. Alienware test my System with Home Premium and allways get more Points i ever get..
I think the Point is, they taken a lower resolution.. But cant switch it, beacuse i have only the Standart Test Version.. -
I got a ~7400 3dmark06 score with the demo version. I didn't do anything special, just installed 3dmark, made sure the computer was in high performance mode, and let it go. This is with Vista Ultimate, SP1, 174.16.
I didn't feel the urge to mess with it to get my score higher. The computer is fast enough for me. -
If you are using XP then go with the 167 beta drivers from Alienware, but if you are using Vista then go with 174.16. Make sure there is nothing running in the background when you run 3dmark, and if you are on vista put your theme on windows classic mode and exit out of the sidebar. They take up valuable system resources running in windows Aero. My 3dMark06 score of 9157 was from running in 1024x768 and XP, but right now with Vista I get about 8000 not overclocked at 1400x900. I also use nHancer and AF2, which could improve scores. Purchasing Artic Silver and using the guide posted on this forum to apply it and using a Zalman NC-2000 Cooler can always help. I know they did in my case. They haven't increased my scores, but they keep my cards at an idle 63 Degrees.
-
The thing is that Alienware got such a high score from using stock drivers on Vista.
-
It must be a vista issue. On my M9750 with SLI 7950's running XP, I get between 8600-8700. On my wifes M9750 with SLI 8700's running XP, she gets 8900-9000.

The hell with Alienware's drivers....use the newest ones from LaptopVideo2Go with the modified .ini files. We figured out long ago how to get other drivers to install with this SLI chipset, so I wouldn't recommend Alienware's drivers anymore.
(FYI, if you don't know how to install the modified driver w/ the SLI m9750, here's the run-down:
1) Download driver from laptopvideo2go and the modified file. Extract and replace the single file.
2) Install new driver for 1st card ONLY. Click the "Continue" Message just one, and the stop on the 2nd one.
3) Reboot. Update driver for 2nd card via Device Manager and manually select the folder for the driver you downloaded.
4) Reboot again, enable SLI, and enjoy the newest driver!) -
Poor Performance with my 9750
