I have no experience in what dead pixels look like.. I figured they would be little blue dots where the pixel stopped working, not these things lol.

But yeah, theres the video. I've already posted a thread on the alienware support forums (not sure if I should have did that or sent an email).

And according to the alienware dead pixel return policy, I qualify, so just wondering if these are in fact dead pixels or not.

--And just for kicks, anyone know whether or not if I send it in for LCD replacement, if I can have them add in the AlienFX illuminated keyboard? (I'll pay ofc), at configuration 50$ for light up keyboard seemed retarded, but now that I've seen the rest of the sexy lighting, I want it. lol

No, those aren't dead pixels. Pixels are very, very tiny and usually light colored.

In the video it looks like smudges but I'm sure you can see better in person.

They are for sure not dead pixels though.

Watched the video a couple times, and that doesn't seem to have the blocky definition of the dead pixels that I am used to seeing. It looks way to granular and grey to be a solid dead spot. (black/blue)

It almost looks like the screen was pressed too hard in those two spots. It's quite possible that happened during the building process.

That's my view of that anyway.

Edit: Rob41 beat me to it :)

I'm assuming you already tried to clean it and it is clean.

What Qualao said may be true. I think you're gonn have to give customer support a call to have it replaced.

Ask about getting the keyboard in the same call to them.

Well, Im 100% sure they arent smudges, I've cleaned it with a microfiber cloth and some LCD cleaner quite a few times.

It must be as you have suggested, it was done in the building process because they were there when I first took it out of the box. I didnt really care at the time because, well, I just got a new Alienware ffs, I didnt care about two blotches that could only be seen on white/light-colored backgrounds lol.

But yeah, any idea if this qualifies as an LCD replacement? I'm pretty sure this would be under warranty? There isnt exactly a "dark smudge lookin blotch" section of the warranty lol.

    lol, yeah, that would suck!

I'm not sure if they will replace it but hey, it's worth a shot.

Might sound obvious, but I've found it really helps to remain nice and civil the whole time. Continue to make your point and they will be more likely to give you what you want.

Which is why I will probably try the email route first. I was hoping the video would be able to tell what it was, and apparently it eliminates dead pixels.

I may try to take some high res pictures, also.

This SHOULD qualify as dead pixel, I mean, its pretty much the same thing. And neither would have been my fault. But yeah, thanks for the help guys. Appreciate it.

**Edit, and damn, this site is fast lol.
It's good to hear that they have seen this problem and will fix it. Thanks a ton.
