Ok, check the following link:

Notice anything? Looks a lot like the M9750 doesn't it? If this is what I think it is then it would mean that Arima has designed an Arima special 8800MGtx card (though in an MXM-II form factor, or they might have confused it with MXM 2.0 spec). Either way, there lies a possiblity of the M9750 being upgradeable. Notice how in mxm-upgrade.com, an Arima W810 notebook was able to receive an upgrade to a card that was relatively newer and more powerful than the previous card at the time (go to www.mxm-upgrade.com, then scroll down until you see the Medalion 95257). Not sure about Ati compatibility, but seeing as how ATi is doing me proud lately, I might even dump my M9750 and get this badboy once it comes out.

That notebook is completely different. I'm sure that it's a lot thicker, and it just copies the design of the M9750 and the m17x, it's not the same as either.

I hope this pans out- I'll be keeping my eye on it. I had thought about eventually upgrading to a m17x but I'd much rather keep my m9750 and put a more up-to-date motherboard in it. -

Did a bit more research, and its confirmed that this new model is actually the Arima W840Di (under Arima notebooks acquisition by Flextronics)
http://www.flextronics.com/arima/ go to notebooks, should be under gaming notebooks
Hell, I might consider getting this thing and sell my M9750. We'll see how well it does in reviews and benchmarks. -

. I'm actually quite interested firstly in what kind of ATi cards they're offering and the performance. ATi has stepped up their desktop game recently...let's see if they can make a comeback in the notebook/mobility sector.
Edit: well in this case, OCZ doesn't do it direct, so I guess thru resellers like newegg once available. -
This Arima W840DI is the centrino 2 son of the Arima "M9750"....
I would like to order one !!! -

well you would need the new motherboard for the gpu's unless they somehow made special arima 8800m's with a heatsink that worked with the m9750, which i believe if they just updated everything it probably would fit, however, i don't know if it would work. the notebooks are roughly the same dimensions, like a few mm of in certain areas.

The good news is that if the article is true, then Armia does have a 8800m that fits in "Upgradeable MXM 2 Graphics Slots". That is what ichime is going for. But also notice they say only an "option for single NVIDIA 8800 GTX", while ATI still get crossfire. So this says to me that the power requirements for two 8800s are too great for this chassis/motherboard. Still, given that two cards can fit in this model may mean it could be close enough to the m9750 to be able to align the heatsinks to work with the 8800 GTX. Yes, Alienware does need to provide the part, but the chance the part actually exists just jumped up a major notch!
Personally, I'm just super happy to see that the beloved m9750 case is not dead so that there is still a decent looking 17 inch model out there -
if they do have an mxm compatible 8800m that works, perhaps alienware will discontinue the m9750, then release the 8800m as an upgrade for currect m9750 owners as people speculated so long ago. i wonder if they knew about this all along...

=/ little research would tell you guys that the 8800m gtx is already a mxm IV form factor and that the m9750 is a mxm HE system. It has already been shown that the pins just don't line up. So again a m9750 with a 8800m gtx is just a pipe dream. The only cards that might possibly work would be the new 9800m gts, but 99% sure even that one is a mxm IV design.
Potentially good new for M9750 owners
