Okay i'll try to phrase this as best as possible.

My problem is when I am in battery mode and change my power scheme to say power saver, how come it doesn't change back to high performance automatically when I plug it into the outlet and vice versa?

I check all the setting and can't seem to find it.

    Help plz.

    Vista btw.

I was under the impression that although Vista will know it has power and assuming you've set the options in the AW Command centre, will switch to the setting you have defined for "plugged in" and "Battery" but, it will not auto changeover.

My advice is set your system to high performance using the Command Centre and alter the settings for plugged in to suit battery useage i.e., Processor at max of 20%, screen dimming enabled and assuming you're not gaming your GPU's will be idling so using the latest drivers will curb power useage, apart from that you can enable powermizer...

That's what i've set my m17x to, although i'm kinda running power all the time, I forgot to switch the power block on and it lasted 35 mins just using the net and outlook running from the battery lol

    Just and idea

Well, I thought about the benifits of the m17x... 2.8 CPU, 8800GTX Sli, 1Tb HDD space, Great screen...... and to be honest the killer battery life tops them all, to be honest that's what sold it to me really :D

I'm of the opinion that the m17x's battery is really only a UPS ;)

AFAIK its how it works, you can setup multiple power profiles to switch between them. Every power profile gives you an option to enable/disable what you want if its on AC and what not if running on DC power. So it really does not make sense to switch over the entire profile when you switch between the power source.

Profiles are just a quick way to apply an entire set of different settings with a click of a button.

As I said earlier, when hardware runs out of its limits you know you need a software guy. ASUS might have some sort of software running to monitor the change in power source and swap the profiles on the fly. I do not see a logical need for this - if only you could justify it we can look for something like that.

its no big deal just thought it was more conveniant. Like when i'm in power saver mode I plug in my system and it stays in power saving mode and I sometimes forget until that little bubble pops up indicating i'm in power saving mode.
    No biggie

    Thanks
