    Hello,

I have a M15x bought in December 2009. I am pretty happy with it but last week an error message was displayed at boot.

During POST, before Windows loads, a message is telling me that the power supply connected to the PC is not the "official" one. I can "F1 to continue" or "F2 to go to bios". If I press "F1", the PC boot normally. The message does not appear every day. It appears a week ago, then I had nothing for about a week and it appears again yesterday.

Of course, my power supply is the offcial one, nothing was changed on the pc. Despite this message, the power supply seems to work correctly. The battery is charging correctly and the PC doesn't have any other issue, even while gaming.

In the BIOS, it is the A02, I have now disabled this error message but I would like to know why I am having it. Is it coming from the PSU or is it the PC?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Phil

Maybe the PSU is starting to fail and only does it at certain times (like fails to output same voltage all the time, etc. - don't know the exact terms for what it should do) and the laptop notifies you about it.

Could be a number of things including a failing power supply, the plug on the PC is failing (which means a new main board), the plug where the wall cord connects to the power supply... Troubleshoot it with the AW tech, you will probably get either a new adapter or MB. Sometimes all it takes is removing the plug from the PC end and cleaning the plug with a paper towel. Just get any scum off of it and plug it back in. My original XPS' plug always got dirty, even if it was plugged in all the time. Quick clean and I was good to go for a while. Give it a shot and check in the BIOS if it sees your PS properly.
