    Hello,

Believe it or not, tonight is the first time I ever tried using PowerDVD to play a movie. It opens up and then asks for registration. I skipped that and it crashes when I attempt to play the movie.

Anyway, I opened it again and this time registered. Crashes again. So I opened it again and the registration window comes up with "prior registration failed due to network problems." Try to play movie and crashes again.

Then I open it, and don't try to play the movie. I go to settings and try to see if I have to look for updates. I find a button that says "Activate" and another "Upgrade." I pick activate but it asks for a serial.

So, what now? I don't even know what is it that is supposed to be happening. Is this a trial version or something like that?

    Thanks fellas

Its not a trial version, but its not PowererDVD PRO or whatever. I never had to use the activate button. It just sounds like you might have had a bad install. I would try uninstalling, and reinstalling with the one from your MyHive.

FYI your copy of PowerDVD is tied to your CD Player/readers Serial Number. Theres a couple posts in Alienwares support forums on this too I believe.

    1. You don't have to register.
    2. I think the crash isn't related to PowerDVD. I had similar issue with a completely other system. If you have any firewalls or antivirus software (like for example Kaspersky) enabled, disabled it for the time you start the movie.
In my case (Kaspersky) it help when I only disabled it for starting the movie.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping not having to do a reinstall. Anyway, I will do this then as there seems to be no other choice.

By the way dude, your sig looks very familiar. ftw
