Hi all,
I was just looking around the alienware website today and noticed that the price of the systems went down. Even their quick ship models went down around $100. Does anyone know how alienware handles price adjustments? The base price on mine went down $150. Just wondering what to do next? I know Roswell is closed on Saturdays, but would regular customer service be able to help me? Thanks!

The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
I wudnt reccomend M15x of AW.If you are interested you cna call them.
-
It really depends on long ago your purchase was. They've been fairly generous in doing price adjustments so I suppose you can give it a go. I would honestly do it through Roswell though, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try through the normal CS.
-
wow...really informative information you provided...just so you know i added you to my buddy list so i can be fully informed about all topics before i post such questionable garble as the OP....
-
Thanks Oceanus. My laptop is still in phase 7 so I am hoping they will be reasonable.
-
if yur still in phases then it should be even easier to get the adjustments in cost....as the big O said, they have been very good with that stuff.
-
If you're still in the phases, then I'm very certain you'll be able to get a price adjustment. At first, I thought you were talking about a notebook you already received.
-
Too bad I can't use that money and just add something else to the computer. Maybe they will let me use it as credit and I can get a smartbay battery!.... Here is to hoping! I will see what regular customer service has to say tomorrow.
-
dont see why they would say no...maybe they need to issue a credit first for biz reasons...but hey, never hurts to ask.
-
I guess you are right to avoid complications. Let's see what happens Saturday morning!.. If not.. I will have to wait to speak to someone from Roswell. -
Yeah. Sounds like a plan.
In any case, I still wouldn't order the smart bay battery until after you've received your notebook. For some reason, if you order it after you've already received your notebook, it costs almost half as much.
When I first purchased my m15x, the Alienware US website listed the smart bay battery as $130 (that is, if you had purchased it along with your notebook). I managed to get it for $78 from an Alienware sales representative after I've already received the notebook.
It might be cheaper than that now that the price on the website has gone down to $100-- but yeah, it'd be wise to buy the smart bay battery after you've purchased your notebook. Save yourself some money! -
Hmm I wonder why they adjusted their prices. Maybe with some problems in the past with certain computers they felt dropping the price would make us fans happy

Wow, on top of the $200 price drop in the last few weeks, the 9800M GT is $150 cheaper. Alienware's definitely getting really competitive with the m15x. I wonder if that will ever spread to the m17x.
-
I could have sworn the base price for the m15x was around $1,399 yesterday.
Maybe I'm way over my head. -
i thought so too Oceanus....
and how did you get away with just the heart for the post mystik? -
Double post--
Quote me or Mystik and you'll find out. =P It's pretty clever. -
Now if only they could've done this, say, oh... 4-5 months earlier? :x
Good play, regardless. -
Haha, I'm sure we've had ours long enough to the point where our notebooks have probably depreciated below the current price of the m15x.
-
I received mine 2 weeks ago and it was $1299 when it shipped. It was $1499 when I ordered it 2 weeks earlier.
-
For your case, I would say you should ask for a price adjustment anyway. Wouldn't hurt to try.
-
That's exactly why I am asking for an adjustment. I believe when I did customize my m15x it was going for $500. I wonder if NVIDIA is finally lowering the price of the 9800 gt in response to ATI pricepoints.
To Oceanus, thanks about the heads up on the smart bay battery. I will see how much they are willing to give it to me for once I receive my lappy. -
Yep! I owe it to those before me who have told me about it.
-
the prices went up in europe

Ok..just an FYI for anyone who recently ordered an m15x. I called Roswell, (thank goodness I got the invite email!), and wow.. they are going to refund me the difference of $145. Too bad my computer is in phase 7 and I couldnt add any more bells and whistles. I would think that if anyone got their computer within a week of ordering could also get a price adjustment. I just wanted to pass along the info.

Glad to hear you got the price adjustment.
-
How can I get access to the Roswell service? I've called 800-ALIENWARE (254-3692) to check on an order (customized m15x) that has been hanging at Phase 4 since the beginning of November now. Since then Alienware has not only lowered the price on the 9800m gt that's in my configuration, but they also have a free-shipping deal now. Am I wasting breath on calling again for a price adjustment or rather, do I need to go through a different channel?

Thanks Bubbamel!
-
No problem! Good luck. I have been learning from alot of nice people on here. I send them bunch of thanks on here as well!
-
An FYI bump for everyone. It seems that alienware dropped the m15x another $100 ( for 5 days at least ).
-
Planning on giving them a call again for another price adjustment? =P
-
Hehe.. I tried my luck and was shut down. I already had a promo discount applied on my order, they would not be able to take another $100 off. At least I am getting back $145... I am just happy I got something.
-
Haha, cool.
