I'm looking forward to just say upgrade my T7200 for a T7600. Prices are still over $500.00's What's the deal? Anyone know why intel's T7600's are so much? Is it really the more the processor the better it is? So this would be better than some of the newer P' series? Someone have any CPU comparison charts to show me? Thanks!

get one off ebay. will void your warranty though.
-
Yup, any $500 processor is going to be better than any $200 processor.
-
Most of the ones thur ebay are from China? Don't know if their really legit and even ture. But i'll keep an eye out for more. By the way anyone can find a Spec sheets in comparison between Intel's Core 2 line up for Moblie?

just look at the clock speeds...
if you want all the gory details, knock yourself out:

The T7600 was is a top-of-the-line Merom processor and thus will command a premium. I would not bother with the upgrade, even if it was $200. You are only gaining 330MHz over your T7200, and that will not be a significant nor noticeable difference.
-
i don't know how hot the t7600 is, nor how high you can OC it, but i've OC my t7200 250mhz, so if you figure you can gain 330 from the processor + 250 from an overclock, you're talking a 2.58 ghz clock speed, which is much higher than the stock t7200.

The T7400 is the best bang for the buck T7x00 socket M processor to upgrade to.
However you already have the T7200, so its not really worth it to upgrade.
I should be upgrading my T7400 to a T7600 today. The upgrade is going to be free

Thanks, for the list that was more than I need to know. So, I guess my T7600 would be no more. Just save the money for a possible 4870x2's.

TurbodTalon Notebook Virtuoso
Back with my Dell E1705, I also upgraded from the T7200 to the T7600. There was NO difference in gaming performance, according to 3DMark'06.
The only way that I know of to OC the T7600 was is if you had the 'G' series of the CPU, and then only if the given laptop supported it.
If you're looking for an increase in gaming performance, keep your money. It's only 333Mhz anyhow, if I'm not mistaken. -
The T2500 cost me $40
So in total it cost $115 for the T7400
The T7400 usually goes for about $140-150 on ebay, so I guess I got a good price. It was much faster than the T5300 I had.

oh.
I am using my T7400 now
I was supposed to trade my T7400 for a T7600, but my friend has yet to come by. He lives on the other side of campus.
The best place probably to look is ebay, hardforum, or the anandtech sale pages

Why look for the T7600, when the T7700 can be had for $329.99 retail? Would it work in the m9750?
-
The T7700 is a socket P Processor
The T7200, T7400, T7600 are socket M processors.
You cant install a Socket P cpu in a socket M laptop. they will not fit

Hmm, I have the T7600G in my notebook, Alienware locked it at 2.66GHz, is there any software to "undo" the Alienware lock?
-
You may be able to
But you will need a custom BIOS.
You can email BIOSMAN, and they can arrange a BIOS which lets you overclock it further.
I overclocked my friends T7600 to 3.33Ghz. That was the fastest his XPS1710 would go.
I think the highest stable clock speed was 2.83Ghz

Pricing on T7600?
