    Hi,

This problem is already resolved in another thread, but I want to put a new thread out there with the Bios referenced in the subject line so people searching Google can find the solution more easily.

Because of poor programming on the part of Dell, the Alienware M15x Bios Rev. A02 will update, but the procedure terminates before EC Ver. .96 is installed. If .96 is not installed with the A02 Bios upgrade, the system performance seems much slower (at least to me).

    The problem and solution:

    1. After the Phoenix Bios Upgrade completes and the PC speaker beeps asking you to hit a key to exit, and you hit a key, you are taken to a command prompt that asks you to hit 'Y' or 'N' to upgrade the EC.

    2. If you hit 'Y', the system pauses, issues a "Bad command or filename" error, and goes to an R:\ prompt.

    3. Solution: Once you are at the R:\ prompt, type (without quotes) "dflash EC-W670.096", hit 'Y' when asked, and the EC update will then work.

Props to other users on this forum for knowing the answer to this problem. No props whatsoever to Dell who released a non-working Bios update that seems to be afflicting pretty much everyone who tries to install it.

haha, i had the same problem when I updated a few days ago. I used this thread as reference and it took me awhile to figure out the dash needs to be an underscore......I got lazy and forgot to post the change to the thread.

    Thanx
