    hey all,
i bought a alienware laptop couple years ago, after about 6 months, it started getting HAWT! so hot that my hands were litereay burning after playing for a while, so i got a laptop fan, things started getting cold, after abt other 4-5 months my screen will just get froze while in middle of playing a game which would piss me off, as i was a hardcore gamer and i didnt liked it. i read some article here and found how to clean my laptop fans, i did it, cleaned with compressed air and monitor swipes. things started getting better, but then after another 4 months (current) it still gets hawt really bad. i dont like hands burning and such, so anyhow, i talked with dad and he said he will buy me a new one if somehow i can exchange (trade in) my current laptop, so i browse some sites and found the alienware trade in site http://www.alienware.com/programs/pc-trade-in.aspx, ok now that it asks for all this info ( cpu brand, speed, memory, hard drive, etc) but i dont remember all this as it has been 2 years, and i dont remember the login info for the alienware site, neither i can find the pamplet (print out after i ordered the laptop) so my first question is: is there any program or such which will let me know all the info i need to know to fill this form : http://alienware.eztradein.com/alien...&level2=166&aw

now my other question is if someone has done or used the alienware trade in program: can tell me how does this work? and is it worth it? will i get the money i deserve from the laptop. i got my laptop for $2200, someone with experience can tell me how much back i will get? Condition is perfect besides gets hot when i play games.

BTW those who wonders i play World of Warcraft!

Thanks for all you replies in advance!

Everest Home Edition should get you that information. available (amongst other places) here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html

Of course, you can also check your system specs by going into your hardware manager and clicking around a bit.

as for the value, well, don't expect to get nearly what you payed in the first place. i'd expect maybe 500, though i've never traded in myself.

Just for fun I tried doing the specs on my m9750(which is about 4 months old) and I paid over $2500 and they gave me a $482 offer with a $200 loyalty "bonus".

So they are willing to give $682 for a laptop they charged over $2500 for 4 months ago..... What a great deal...

Problem is that they don't even consider the GPU(s) in their trade-in program - that would be an extra $50-$900 on your trade-in, which is of course why they ignore it.

Hell, they don't even ask for the model if you say it's an Alienware notebook. $549.14 for my m9750 SLI notebook? No thank you, I could sell it on eBay for $2,500.

That trade-in program is a joke.

591.98 was the offer they just gave me I'd lose two grand if I traded right now! I've actually thought about using the program in 3+ years when its time to upgrade, most likely to get a new aw. But if I can get more elsewhere you can bet I will try

I'm going to do the same and just sell whatever I get on ebay since I did it before, got 1200$ for a machine that I bought for 2k$ after 2.5 years, was pretty happy.

    That's worse than Best Buy's "Trade-in" program.

Actually, its not. They are both run by Dealtree inc, so, excluding the AW loyalty $200, the payment is the same. The difference is that with Aw you get an AW gift card, with BB you get a BB gift card.

I would try the toshiba one for anything but an AW computer. They give a check for real cash (not a gift card) and a free $25 Starbucks gift card (Great deal, right.. *rolls eyes*).

Yeah. I'd TOTALLY do it for the $25 Starbucks gift card.

Obviously, the best trade in program for an alienware computer is alienware.
But cash is better than a best buy card for cheap electronics.
