I have a screen dell 3007WFP-HC and a geforce 260gtx a m17x but I am unable to view the full resolution (2560/1600) because it has no output and dual DVI-I display no displayport!

I was wondering if the ATI Radeon HD 4870 has one (dual-dvi output) or if I can find one who has?

anyone who has a solution would greatly appreciate it!

    thank you

The adapter will work. I connected my M15x over the displayport -> hdmi to my 37 inch Tv. Hdmi and DVi are compatible, and thus the displayport -> DVI should work as well. If you use a DELL displayport -> DVI, make sure that you set your graphics properties up correctly

it works because the resolution of a television screen is 1900x1200!
my screen is a dual-link DVI 2560x1600, so a simple link can not achieve this resolution!

    thanks for your reply!

sorry to say, but you will need this adapter instead:

    http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/Cables/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&cs=19&sku=330-5521

its a bit more expensive. However, you still might not be able to achieve maximum resolution because of the limit of the 260M gfx card:

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_geforce_gtx_260m_us.html

but the ATI 4870 should be able to output at that resolution according to the specs:

    http://www.amd.com/us/products/note...00/hd-4850-4870/Pages/hd-4850-4870-specs.aspx

Note, the Nvidia card might be able to pull off that resolution, but I have never tried it.

if you want to try that adapter, maybe call dell technical support and ask them if the 260m will work. So if it doesnt, you can return that adapter which is fairly expensive

EDIT: if you complain about throttlng and stuttering then you might get nvidia cards replaced for the ati cards:

I already try with this adapter and it is not working but as I see 260gtx resolution is limited to 2048x ... then I'll try to call alienware to switch to ati!
    thank you for your research
