Ok, so on the R1 the eyes on the power button use to flash when there was hard drive activity? My new R2 they don't come on at all?? I noticed that in the program Intel matrix storage manager it has a function to activate port led? When I hit it nothing happens? Does everyone else eyes flash on their R2?

damn....guess I am going to have to have them replace the top pc with the soft touch keys. Do you think dell would send the part and I can install it. After seeing all the video's and hearing all the drama with bad techs I am nervous to let anyone touch it! I am a sub contractor for IBM maybe that will help?

Before you go trough the trouble of calling dell try disconnecting the ac power and taking out the battery and holding down the power button for 20 seconds to drain all the power. Then put the battery back in and reconnect the ac and see if it makes a difference.

also try reinstalling osd and command center and see if that makes a difference.

I had issues with the lid and power button not lighting up until windows loaded and this was resolved by draining the power and restarting.
