Is there a way to open my m17 and access the drive bay connectors? One of my drive connectors is positioned too high and my hard drive won't fit. I really don't wanna send this thing back to alienware so want to see if I could fix it myself.

So if I unscrew all those screws on the back of my laptop, could I have access to the hdd connectors? Nothing wrong with drive bays...

You would have to completely disassemble the computer and remove the motherboard to get access to the HD connectors if you can't get to them through the drive bay. I don't quite understand why you think the connector is positioned too high though.

Well i tried to stick a hard drive in the bay like 30 times and it didn't work, so something's wrong with it :) Are there any guides to disassembling m17? I uploaded a pic of my problem btw.

I can take a look at mine later tonight and see if it looks the same or not if you want.
It would take some pretty extensive dissassembly to get that far inside the laptop and do that work. I honestly haven't seen anyone dissasemble there's that far.
Can you get a flathead screwdriver in that far and see if the connector is wiggly or not at least?
These are the only guides I could come up with, but none of them get in deep enough to get at the HDD connectors.

I tried to wiggle the connector around. I could only do it for a sec (had to superglue a flat piece of metal to my protractor to make it long enough) before my contraption snapped. I managed to push it down a bit but it sprang right back up.

Here is the inside of mine. It looks like both of mine line up with each other.

After relooking at your picture you can definitely tell that your right had side HDD connector is pulling away from the mobo. You can even see the pins at the top of the picture between the plastic adapter and the inside of the enclosure itself.

Connectors are usually soldered to the motherboard right? If thats the case then I guess ill have to send it back to alienware... thats a month without laptop.

That piece looks like a plastic adapter used to turn downward facing pins into sideward facing pins to meet up with the hard drive. If you had a long enough screwdriver you should be able to push it back onto the pins.
