I know that I have read about this before, but can someone help me to understand why I cannot see my smartbay harddrive after I install it in the slot? The battery and the dvd drive work just fine, yet twice I have installed the harddrive and nothing shows up under my computer except for the C: drive.

This is the one I purchased: M15X ADD SMARTBAY HD 320GB 7200RPM FF-SILVER.

Any help would be appreciated :)

    1. Did you eject the DVD Drive before removing it?
    2. Does it appear in Device manager
    3. Is it assigned a drive letter

You might have to format it.

if you give it a drive letter, you can format it.

a format will just cause windows to automatically give it a drive letter.

you can have a valid drive, with drive letter, without it being formatted.

therefore, if he were able to give it a drive letter, windows would actually prompt him to format the drive.

Thanks for the help and link. It is now in the formatting process :)
