Whenever I try to access the Command Center, whether by the start menu or by the shortcut on my desktop, I get this error message:
Could not load file or assembly 'Alienlabs.UpgradeService, Version=1.0.48.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=bebb3c8816410241' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the program using the disc that came with the computer, but nothing seems to be working.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem?

Ah, i think the one on the CD is outdated, try the latest one. Maybe delete the alienware folder manually in program directory if it does not update correctly.
Command Center 2.5.54.0, A07
Hope it works with this one.
Edit: I think you should download all the latest drivers from Dell Support - Drivers & Downloads M17x and save them on a memory stick, where you have them at hand whenever you need them. (The CD is (to be honest) for nothing) -
I had the most recent version of the Command Center. For some reason, it just suddenly stopped working. I tried deleting the folder from the program directory and re-downloading it via that link, but all it did was ask me to overwrite the update that I already had, and there is still no Alienware folder, and I can't even click on Command Center anymore, because it's no longer there.
Any other ideas? -
uninstall it and use ccleaners to clean up the registries. reboot and install the latest version. once you have the newest version do not go back to the older version.

Yeah, it's definetly a buggy command center installation.
Here's the detailed Guide to Uninstall Alienware Command Center, on the link you will also find more info on how to reinstall it and the power drain method is also applicated at some point (i also recommend CCleaner with Registry Clean Option after), read along
