Has anyone experienced any serious lag since this update? I find that now when I goto run Warhammer, it takes twice or even three times as long to load...

I can't figure it out. It runs fine once its loaded, but it takes forever. And now I also find my laptop randomly freezing up for 20 seconds.... no reason what so ever. sigh... anything?

May be that was your video drivers... are you fine now?
or it could be due to "Continuous security" mode of AlienSense, as it keeps on monitoring your face and camera is always ON

Ok I faced a new problem and reported that to Alienware as I could not find a solution to that myself

Another problem that I reported to them was with everyone.

    This was their response

48 hours doesn't seem all too bad. I just wonder if they can stick to that kind of time frame.

I haven't had any issues with it at all until today after changing some visuals on my desktop (ie background and stuff with stardock/alienguise)... anyways, my comand center seems to be working like normal but there is avery anoying box that stays on my desktop thats called "Alienware AlienFX Controller" when I open the box.. its just a big white screen.. when I close it, it shuts down the alienfx and everything... lighting shuts off, everthing.

Due to the fact no TV shows was on when I got this Monster I waited for a fix for my laptop. In a few days I am sending it in for keyboard lighting to be fix.

Frist keyboard the (I) key was off. Then the keyboard lighting stop working. Second keyboard No lighting never show up. Was thinking it was software issue I waited 2 or 3 months. The software issue was fix but the lighting stayed off. So as it stands It is unknown to my system. Sending it back to fix lighting issue and upgrage the GPUs.

This is the frist Major problem of the M17X. It not as major as my M5550 laptop. But I told the techs and CEO techs that I wanted to upgrade this monster after some time.

My M5550 frist laptop ran hot as a Hot pocket. 110C that issue was fix and the sleep mode issue and ABG card did not work after exiting sleep mode that where the M17X came in.

Hopefully most of the problems will be fixed by the expected update, which answers the question why it is removed from my hive. This is what I received from AW

Don't know if this is exactly the kind of problem we're talking about, but I have long curly hair (think Slass), anywhome, unless I yank my hair back sense can't even put a "box" around my head usually, and even with me pulling it back I'm yet to be recognized (a "box" and some red writing at this point).

I felt a bit stupid for rubbing the new feature in a mate's face while it was updating and then looking quite the fool. Before:  After: :(

Really not a big deal at all, and I'm sure that one day it'll recognize me, but just thought I'd point out that this system seems not very accommodating to people who don't fit a fairly average silouette (in that admittedly I can see how my head shape would be completely concealed to a machine).

i've noticed this too. if i'm coming out of the shower, and my hair's hanging down to cover my forehead, it won't recognise me. same thing goes for wearing hoodies or even headphones.

Could someone do me a massive favor?
I am living in the UK, however the UK branch of Alienware has not yet approved the two new applications in the Command Center. So could someone who owns a m15x upload his/her Command Center and give me a link to download it.
    I would be extremely grateful.

    Gotta bring this one back...

New user here, just got my m15x on Friday, it's got Vista 64 factory installed.

Everything worked great out of the box, but this morning I started getting an error "License key is invalid" when trying to use the aliensense....I'm speaking with alienware tech support right now who says they're aware of the issue but what doesn't make sense to me is that the problem would just come up out of no where when it worked on 64bit just fine for 2 days....

    Any thoughts?

Let me know how I can help the community.

Do you all just want me to upload the command center folder within program files or is there something different you're looking for? I can have it uploaded today :D

either that, or see if you can find the installer for 64bit Command Center on your "Vista Support CD", which should be in the black filer you got from AW.

One little problem with the support cd, I was sent the wrong one.

The one I have is for an M17 x64....Still good or should I just go with the programs folder?

    EDIT

How about this, in my hive I have a download for the Command Center v 1.0.17M?

Hello, I recently purchased an additional hard drive in order to upgrade to Vista 64bit since it appears that all the drivers etc are now avialable. To save a long history of issues that I eventually found solutions........I am left with only one........getting the command center to work with 64bit. I have downloaded the latest version (ie 28) from this forum and have installed it in the order I read but am still having issues (see attached images). I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction as Alienware was not helpfull. The only one they say they will support for me is the v17 (32 bit). I was told that there was a v24 that woudl be uploaded soon to myhiv but nothing yet.

I have attached the errors I have recieved. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

i have an other problem with the command center for M17X. when i install a language (i have vista ultimate sp2) and i press command center it tells me no plugins available.

but when i open through windows explorer i can open alien sense touch and all plugins. its only that they are not found through command center.

NOTE: 1) the language is not included in languages of command center.
    2) When i change to english language plugins work properly through command center
    3) all processes and applications (AlienFX and Aliensense etc) start normally with windows boot.

what can i do for this? i think it must be a registry problem not recongizing the changed directory names (i mean the characters)?

    Try looking here:

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\MobilePC\HotStartButtons\]

    In regedit.

FYI this post was originally made for the m15x so don't get confused by what it says in the beginning.

yeah i figured that it must even be different command center. i used the v1.07 from dell for alienware M17X drivers.

anyway i checked this reg. it says value not set. but again everything work with english language

i created a folder on start menu including direct shortcuts for the command center plugins so i can open them directly without accesing command center but this is not a permanent solution.

Forgive the horrendous necro here, but I'm not sure where to post this and I'm at the end of my rope.
The perfect solution appears to be in the Findvikas' links, but Murphy's Law has ofcourse ensured those are long since dead.

    The situation :
    I had a 15x, I had vista, I wanted to kill myself.
    I have a 15x, I have Win7, I cant stop singing about it.

Tiny snag is that my keyboard lights dont show up in the new command center, and clicking either the Fusion or Touch tab on the bottom brings the entire computer to an instant halt, unrecoverable except for the panacean 4sec powerbutton push. Epic win for Dell support, failing to write firmware for an operating system that has been out since the industrial revolution.

Not a huge fan of the new command center, I prefered the old simple version. I have a 32bit 15x, bought last year, and would reeeeally fancy the firmware version my little angel was released with. No Touch, no Fusion, no themes, just simple old, all-buttons-working, lights-under-everything, firmware it was sold with.

Dell support, by the way, reckons "this version is the only version we've ever had sir, I dont see the problem". I managed to restrain myself from telling the boy to have a lampshade made of his head since he wasn't using it. Yay me. -_-'

I've installed Windows 7 Ultimate from scratch on my M17x, installed the drivers from Dell, and installed the latest Command Center from Dell. I was able to use the facial recognition several times and then I started to receive the "License key is invalid" error when the facial recognition software loads during login. I saw that this used to be a problem but that was over a year ago.

Does anyone know of a fix for this? Thanks in advance.

I have an Alienware M17x with a fresh Win7 install on it. The only problem I am having is that the alienhead power button and logo on the lid arent lighting up. I can change all other lights with the FX editor except those two areas. I ran the FX editor test and all the lights work fine including the lid and button. But once I close out of the tester they just get left on the last color test.
