So I bought a new backpack for this beast (haven't received the laptop yet, Friday hopefully). I ended up buying the North Face Box Shot Daypack. It seems pretty nice other than one thing which is it doesn't have a lot of protection at the bottom like my other backpack for my old laptop. What I'm looking for is a sleeve, not like the cloth one it come with, that I can use along with my laptop. Of course finding one that will do any good and will fit is another story. Any suggestions?

I think the slappa sleeves will work but you might want to confirm first.

Yeah, I'd suggest that you send that backpack yet and get one that will actually protect it. I'd recommend the Lap Station from JanSport, as it also has straps that reduce stress on the shoulders which is useful with that hell of a weight on your back.

Those Slappa cases look pretty nice. I'll send them an email and see if they are deep enough (damn 2 inch laptop!). Thanks.

As far as ordering the backpack before I got the laptop... I looked at A TON of backpacks before I purchased it. All the reviews were good from people that had purchased it... Other than not having enough protection at the bottom, it's pretty sweet.

    Thanks

Slik I do not believe they fit the m17x, contact jubal. I know he got one, I am mildly sure it does not though. Backpacks from slappa are great, sleeves not as fitting as expected.

The belkin energy slim is so small it's like a sleeve/backpack hybrid!

That's what I'm gonna roll with when mine comes.....

OMG, this laptop is amazing and you bought a ridiculous bag for it!!! SHAME ON YOU!!!

Please, for your own good follow the steps below:
    1. Find the receipt for your bag
    2. Drive to the store where you bought the bag
    3. Find the customer service department
    4. Return the bag and never look at it again
    5. Drive back home
5 bis. If you want to avoid the first 5 steps, just burn your current bag.
    6. Turn on your current PC
    7. Open your internet browser
    8. type www.alienware.com in the URL
    9. Buy a real Alienware bag that will match your ALLPOWERFUL PC.

    Hope this helps...

Hey... That's what I got with my M17x. It was the deal with my sales Rep; 10% off and the Belkin energy black/grey accents.
I do not have it yet though. it is due to arrive next month because of backorder here in Europe. :(

I just use my Burton school backpack and throw the laptop in there with the sleeve it came with. Its a laptop, not a human being.

I would still like to see Dell release a backpack designed specifically for the M17x.

is it large enough to not only hold the computer but a few school books, binder, and various learning tools as well?

i am using a camelbak BFM right now. i used it transport my 17in toshiba on convoys (in iraq) and helo flights and my tosh held up just fine. the bag has 4 internal straps so you can hold the lappy in place. plus, the bag is heavy duty as hell....lots of travel and it is still in tip top shape.

As would I. I need a case sooo bad. The sleeve that came with it isn't doing the trick. I might get that old Hard Aluminum case that Alienware had a while back.

A thick protective sleeve wouldn't hurt either =)

I mean, yeah, the one that comes with it is nice and all, but how long is that gonna last?

I have this bag that I got from my sales rep. The one I have is all black/dark grey though, this one looks lighter. It is really nice IMO. Has 2 main inside pockets, 1 holds the laptop + some other stuff, the other one has a bunch of smaller mesh pockets and stuff like that. 4 outside zippered pockets to hold whatever you want, plus a mesh pocket on the outside as well. You can literally hold everything in here..it's insane.

well I would need a laptop case/bag that not only can carry the m17x & accessories, but I can fit other stuff in it too, like books, cellphone (and accessories), some disks, etc....basically I would be using this type of case for travelling....

That is what I intend this case for, I'm going to use it for University, unless I get there and find out it's too small. Then I'll buy a shopping cart xD

hehe I already have a case for carrying my m17x around the base. I used it as my travel case for my old Toshiba. Its good enough for taking around my m17x locally, but I would not trust that case for travelling across the world with it. Thus, I too, need a good Alienware case.

Not typically a good idea since these are two seperate markets. What ideally should happen, is that backpack manufacturers should get there acts together and keep up with todays high-end laptop makers. That way, each company gets to do what it does best, and the consumer gets the highest quality product from each.

Incidentally, I was never a big fan of advertising what I have in my laptop. The way I see it, that's just too much of an invitation to thieves. Nevertheless, to each his own.

I have this bag for my ex-m1730, its a beast... ton of space to even include your router, a few body parts and bawls drinkage. My only gripe is that I feel like I am going camping and I would like to see if there is a messenger bag that has the same compartments otherwise I dont think there isnt many options for these huge gaming laptops.

does anyone know if the zeroshock will actually fit without scratching the m17x. I had a zeroshock for years, but could not use if because it was not thick enough...
