Hey there! First time posting here. I just purchased an Alienware M17x and it was put into production last Thursday (4/8) with an estimated ship date of 5/7. Very excited for it to get here, but I was curious though. On average how long does it take to arrive? The only options I altered were that I upgraded the monitor to the 1920 x 1200 RGB LED (1200p), and increased the hard drive space to 320. :D

Congrats on ordering a beast of a laptop!

Dell has been pretty sketchy with their delivery times lately. In past most orders would usually ship much earlier than their expected dates, but lately orders have been delayed multiple times and in some cases taking over a month. Its really hard to give an exact time frame because there are always shortages on LED screens, memory and gpu. If there are no shortages it should take no longer than 2 weeks, but again thats not guaranteed.

The best thing you can do is check your status periodically and hope for the best.

Yeah, I've been checking it every day, but "In Production," is hardly what I would call descriptive. Thanks for the update, though. :)

Odd. When I call the number, it says that my order is being processed, yet when I check it online it says that is in production? Should I be worried about this?

You might have chosen the wrong menu. If I remember correctly you might have to press 2 first, not 3 or 4.

Mine went to production on April 6th and the last Dell rep I spoke with stated it may ship as soon as the 15th, but no later than the 20th.

Mine is a replacement for my XPS M1730.

I know, and it's something I'm going to have to come to terms with. But that won't stop me from checking at least once a day! :)

I'm with you on that... ordered on the 12th...even if they delivered it today it would be a bit over 2wks before I'd be able to turn it on since I'm currently kicking my heels at a FOB in Afghanistan.

Ah, well best of luck to ya in your waits. Even if mine arrived on the ETA of 5/7, it would be just in time to get out of school and spend my summer gaming. :D

If my system get delayed once in the one month wait I'm going to cancel and settle for a m15x in dell outlet, I'm convinced.

Given the problems I have already had with Dell, I fully epect to have to wait at least as long as the EDD. If it is too much longer I'm going to go crazy though. This will be my first gaming computer upgrade in 4 years. Needless to say I have a lot to catch up on

Instead of going to the Dell outlet you can always buy my M17x........
