Hello, I would love to see pics of your shiny new m15x's. Go ahead and light em up and show em off, we can take a poll at the end to see who actually knows anything about color theory and rate the best light scheme.
It would be totally awesome of you could make a video of it strobing to some music or something.

From what I know of red is the best color to use at night, since it doesn't distract you and it also doesn't cause eye strain. This just popped into my head right now. Off topic!

 

Your post looks on topic to me, FTB; the thread is about seeing the machine: visuals. And I think you're right, though the blue in Packer's picture looks great to my eyes.

yeah, it looks really cool at night -- especially when you look from the side, because you see the rim light and the glow from the alien head radiating off the wall.

 

Here is some pictures in the black with my regular lights and one to show some other colors. Quality is not really good, first time I use the camera without flash.

I agree, even if the pipe light was set on orange. I only took that picture to show what other color looked like and now that I look back at it the result is quite festive

 

Hope u like my configs ... (the shadows on the screens are there because i set the contrast to the lowest so that the room becomes darker)..

i used my phone to take em so thier not the clearest but hopefully will be good enough ....

mine was 4k ... because i like had the 2.8ghz (wish i got the 2.6ghz) 8800gtx .. 4gigs (didn't know/wanna do the upgrade by myself) .... includin taxes ... which were 200$ ...

wouldnt worry about it hamish, by the time you get a ship date, the m17x will have been out ages, the surge of inital orders should has subsised and you should get it quicker.

I say should because these guys are SLOW at building machines.

now to get hold of Quanta and ask how much for those chassis.....
then I can build them myself, undercut alienwares prices,
put something else on the lid besides an alien head, hmmmm suggestions there like erm oooh Devil's head

Hmm, yeah that's quite true. It may have been just the camera acting like that under low light intensity.

well actually now that you mention it maybe the camera cause its like 4 yrs old and i had to take the picture without the flash. also the glossy screen doesn't help the shot.

 

I would definitely say mine has some leakage, but I would say less than yours. But that's irrelevant; leakage should all be identical, and the fact that it isn't surprises me

Red looks cool, I'm planning on doing that scheme on my all black m17x skull cap design, can we see the alien head lite up red in the back also please?

and then how about an all blue design along with the alien head. I want to compare between red and blue, I'm sure red will look better on all black skull cap design.

 

im gonna go for all green or all blue on black to match my mouse

 

i was hoping i could buy a bluetooth gaming mouse that matched the laptop but they did not offer that.

 

ok, can anyone who got the higher 1920 resolution post please, I'm planning on getting that because I think the lower resolution will disappoint me. Why can't they release a 1600ish resolution? damn alienware

The cool thing is, you can always drop the resolution to whatever resolution suits you. I got the 1200p screen for the extra real estate, and my digital painting.

Wasn't there a video with a rep saying that it would turn into a disco with Guitar Hero? Wouldn't surprise me if it was just bs but that would be pretty... cool. Now if you could get an ambilight effect like Philips...

 

there nothing to say that modified versions of the control software could have sound to light changes, or even schemes for different phases during bootup, different colours when launching games (or even switching some lights off so theydont disturb )

 

Dude, I am pretty sure you can do the light sync already. You just have to clunk around the controls and you will find it. The lighting is supposed to have options to sync with music and game applications.

 

I haven't been able to sync to any type of music yet. I do know that you can set so that if you open a certain application that it automatically changes color and you can also set it to pulse. I'll have a video up in a few min. Where I have my keyboard blue and as soon as i open media player it goes green and red and starts to pulse. Stand by for the video.

If you can view the video, you can see that at the start the keyboard is blue and as soon as i open media player it changes.

 

that was a great video, i did not know that the pulsing had anything to do with volume.

 

it doesn't have anything to do with the volume it has to do with the application. In the command center you can set different themes with different applications so for example if I run media player right now it will change the colors to what you saw no matter what the volume is set at.

well I've find out how to morph the color but still no sync. It will only allow you to add events to applications. I'll keep trying i'll let you know
