All tests were ran with settings at 1280X720. Drivers are E-Wrecked's 8.12 drivers. Computer was rebooted, HWmonitor and 3Dmark opened up, then ran. Computer was then immediately rebooted, bumped up, and repeated. I don't run a cooler, so this is all with a stock cooling system.

If you'll notice, you'll see where some stores went down and then back up between changing speeds. These speeds shouldn't be assumed to be the highest possible, just something I put together quickly. In fact, if you'll look at the 3.06 results under the CPU score, it actually dropped. I could probably run it again and get higher, but I'm tired of running benchmarks and have other stuff to do today. OH, and I forgot to save the 2.66 total score before I rebooted, so you'll see it's missing.

Can't. 1440X900 screen and I don't feel like plugging in my TV b/c I'd have to pull out my AV rack for an open HDMI cable slot.

    Edit above, I meant 1280X720, not 1024X720.

I've been running it at 3.06 for benchmarking, but I back it down to 2.93 for every day use...although I've forgotten a few times and ran it at 3.06 all day long.

Temperatures are pretty much the same between stock and 3.06. There may be a 2 degree difference or so. I think partly because the voltage it's running is the same regardless of the speed.

Odd thing about mine (and it may just be due to the release version I got) is that my Core 0 temp always reads lower than the other 3. Right now I'm idling at 48 on Core 0, and 54 on Core 1,2,3 while it's sitting on my lap---and my apt is @ 77F (25C) right now (A/C is not working 100% correctly). The post way above was with a cheap cooler underneath it.

It runs the same @ 2.4/2.93.

If you HAVE a Q9200, I'd say use it.

If you were looking to buy one and found a Q9300 within a reasonable range of the 9200, I'd go with it. It really just depends on how much you're willing to spend for the extra base .13ghz (or need the extra O/C to 3.2).

It seems the 9200's aren't around as much as the 9300.

BTW, I haven't noticed ANY of the stuttering people talk about....

Yeah the Q9200 is a great chip for the $$ and ive been tempted to go this route for my new system as you cant beat the price and performance seems to be near identical.

hmm mine is a c0...id like to know what one he has that doesnt have the temp sensors.. c0 always does...looking at your other thread your stock core vid is pretty high to start with also where a 9300 is usually under 1.2 at the stock 2.53 you were over that at the stock 2.4 if i remember right

Using AW's BIOS or OCZ's to OC? Those who use OCZ's BIOS allegedly do not suffer the stuttering issue.

hmmm i got over 16.5k easily however overclocking the 3870's has no effect at all during any resolution, even on my 1080p 42" lcd tv......so im guessing we can go much higher than 17k if we only figured out why the architecture of the 3870 actually does worse when overclocked. In crysis i got much lower fps when i had the 3870's overclocked, same with gears of war and farcry 2.

Pretty much the only games I play on here are Halo2 and Demi-God.

I have more installed, just usually end up turning on the Xbox and playing H3 instead.

I actually finally started seeing some stuttering last night.

Unplugging the power and replugging it in immediately solves it though.

Anyways, my temps still run avg.

I'm about to take my bottom lid to get some more vent lines in it later this week. Just gotta draw a DXF for the flowjet to cut.

My guy told me not to worry about drawing a DXF, which is awesome since I didn't wanna spend the time doing it.

He's just going to put some more vent lines in the areas I want him to since it takes him just a few seconds to draw out some parallel lines and cut them out.

As he's doing it on the side at work and not supposed to, they may not be 100% perpendicular and lined up to the rest of the venting, but still should provide PLENTY of airflow.

I'll get some pics as soon as I have it done (which should be tomorrow). If you like it, he'll probably be interested in doing it on the side for those who want it. I'd do it myself, but I got laid off from that machine shop 3 weeks ago and now am working at a smaller shop that I can't really tackle any side projects at.
