I've been looking at this Quad. How much can overclock it?If I overclock it can I get performance comparable to the QX9300?
-
-
Right now 2.4 is the max...
You will never get the same performance but i don't think that the extra performance worth the price difference
.
-
2.4? Thats it?The Q9000 can overclock to that.I was hoping you could get atleast 2.6 Ghz or maybe push it 2.8.
-
except E peen and business.....
and encoding etc... -
Gotta grow that e-peen, cow!
-
I basically lost 4 hours everyday in compiling and i still think that the performance doesn't worth (well a QX9300 @ 3.06 probably can't get stable enough for me anyway).
-
Sorry to bring up an old thread but, is this true? A Q9100 can only go up to 2.4 GHz? How embarrassing especially when the Q9000 can go even further.
I guess the price difference is in the Cache. I mean how much of a difference will you be experiencing from a 6MB L2 Cache to a 12MB L2 Cache? -
the q9100 hasn't been tested but i think since its 2 different chips i think it will go higher
-
I find it interesting that not a whole lot is said about this CPU.
-
because its stupid to buy
either go q9000 or qx9300
q9100 is like getting a dog with 3 legs ..... just not worth it -
What do you call a cow with three legs?
A Tri-tip! -
i call it food for the cyotes
-
What do you call a cow with two legs? Lean Meat.
1 Leg? Steak.
No Leg?
Ground beef. -
no, get the q9200.
great value. i clocked mine to 2.93.
alot of ppl get it and have no problems.
and its cheap because it technically doesnt exist. -
Msparrow, I saw on Shirleys site that the Q9200 isn't compatible with the M17? Is that what your machine is?
-
Benchmarks have shown that processor cache size actually makes very, very little difference to games or most applications for that matter.
I've seen that too, and it's extremely odd seeming people here have got it working perfectly stable, even overclocked, in the M17. -
no i had the m17 (recently sold it)
it is compatible tho...
