Hello,
For those of you who might be interested, I have been running my new processor at 2.93 Ghz and it is rock solid! I tried raising it to 3.06 but it keeps BSOD. This processor is really worth it and at the price it's a steal!
Cheers,

Quadzilla - The mastah of unlucky
-
I run mine @ 2.93 most of the time too.
I'm just surprised that Quadzilla (I think it was him) couldn't get his to OC. -
Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
Nice overclock, AC/ No DC.
-
Are you running the new BIOS?
-
I said all along it was a dud chip simple as that. My Qx9300 is rock solid at 2.93ghz as was my P8600 at 3.0ghz 1333ram and 1333 fsb .
Guess you guys must all be to young to know there are bad CPUs out there that wont overclock then add the fact that these are ES CPUs lol -
.
And i like some fireworks -
Chip sent back full refund end of story lol . and talk about lucky lol i ended up with this M17 totally loaded for cheaper then you can imagine so i must not be unlucky after all .
Qx9300 Crossfire 4gigs 1333 ram 500gig 7200 rpm HD but i cant say how much i paid cause that would spoil all the fun.
-
i run my in my M17 at 2.93ghz as well.
if i go higher i get a bsod.
ive heard of ppl getting to like 3.2 i believe.
i have no idea how tho...
maybe they got lucky -
-
It's stable, quad (occt, prime, etc)?
-
rock solid, this is in the m17 though. in my M17x its stable at 2.93ghz but i have not tried the new A01 bios to see if it would clock higher or not like others have had some success with
-
man i hope it was not just the qavs chips then.. that would suck, still wish someone could test another qavs on the m17x
-
Did AC/DC mention if his was QAVS or not ??
-
his is qavr i think
edit lol see his title yup qavr -
*me look at the topic title
QAVR Q9200... -
Well i guess we shall see how unlucky(As BIGX333 likes to call me) everyone else is with the QAVS . I hope for your sake Z that its fine . i still say i got a dud and its that simple . Ovrclock350 has one in his M17 like i said before and he has no problems hitting 2.93 . Only issue i see there with him gaining stability over the M17x is he has more Voltage available to him.
-
-
quad,
how did u get it to 3.2?
did it naturally just go that high?
or did you make special modifications? -
The machine came with .28 bios but im not sure which one as i think theres a couple out there that will give more voltage . Dondadah88 knows more about the different BIOs then me. i just set it though to 12x multiplier
-
halo was using my bios utility i posted up i know that and so was don
-
im using .28.
i can make it higher,
but it just BSODs -
Hi just wondering if anyone can tell weather dell will be offering the q9200 as option in the m17x system anytime soon? In which case I can hold off buying for a few days
-
Q9200 doesn't exist officially so... No.
-
no they will not anytime soon
-
thanks for the reply. So if i buy the chip and follow moo's cpu upgrade guide it should be enough to install the q9200 or do i need to tinker with the bios?
-
But since you're probably not going to listen (none of the other clueless people here seem to)....
The Q9200 is an ES chip, never officially released, and technically stolen property since Intel owns them.
It can be installed, and it can be overclocked by changing the multiplier setting in the BIOS of the M17x. The M17 requires an OCZ bios to be installed first and then you can overclock it the same way.
Honestly though, for 99% of the people on here, there is no difference between running it at it's stock setting (2.4) and running it faster (2.93 or 3.06). Most just do it to get high scores on benchmarks. For everyday use, and most games there is no difference. It's mainly just kind of a "Whose is bigger/faster?" type thing to see how far we can push the machine. Like me....I can run mine at 3.06, but usually keep it at 2.93 if I'm playing a CPU intensive game like GTAIV or Supreme Commander. Other than that though, I just go ahead and drop it to 2.4 as I'm not using even that really. I also use Rightmark CPU Utility and keep it at "Performance on Demand" which only clocks it up when it's needed. For everyday use, it's not often that it kicks up to 2.4 (which it does when my CPU usage reaches 20%). -
-
in a m17 and M17x its just drop in and go
-
-
I can run my QAJF @333x9 no problem in a 15.4' chassis but very hot.....Just ordered 3 QAVR to see if they will perform better since QAJF is still C0 Stepping and QAVR already E0 with Temp sensors.

I've also got a QAVR on the way, can't wait to test it out.
-
can you post temps for me of the qavr, and maybe overclk can you post your temps with your qavs?

-
core 2 quad t9400?
-
CPUZ reads them wrong is all that is . i had asked that same question along time ago.
-
It's a special T9400 edition.
-
sweet
-
Special CPU for a special guy
.
-
I idle low 50's, high 40's.
At load, I get into the low low 80's w/o a cooler, and mid 70s with (it's a crappy cooler). -
sweet those seem to be fine temps.. a bit high under load but not bad. the qavr seems to run a bit cooler from other reports i have seen though... not a lot but maybe 1-3deg
-
another freind of mine who also has a qavr also confirmed we me just now on the phone that he is 100% stable prime, orthos, and occt with it at 3.06 in the m17x we are going to try the qavs in his this week to see if there is any difference at all with it

that i agree with 10000% they should have called it something else
-
-
-
CPU-Z reads mine as the SP9400 instead
of the T9400 for some reason.
and i am so jealous that yalls can do 3.2 and mine only does
2.93... -
2.93 is still probably the best overall interms of heat and stability . 3.2 is more for bragging and totally uneeded .
i benched GTA4 a little bit ago to give you an idea of performance between 3.06 and 2.93 , this is a super heavy quadcore game and i got the same scores .
So just enjoy 2.93
