Quite obviously because I didn't know that, duh.

Wonder if the Q9200 has something like 2 of these on it?
-
Just got mine 3 days ago.
I got Shirley's Q9200 QAVR running @ 3.05 Stable for 48 hours nonstop in OCCT.
1222 Mhz FSB 10x Multiplier. If I do multiplier OC alone I can’t get it stable past 2.8 for some reason. Using 1066 MHz RAM. -
I had the problem with the x9100. OC'ed great as long as you don't touch the multi.

Yeah Mine goes to 2.66 stable 24/7 with the 10x multiplier, I just run it at that non stop since I do not need a high clock speed, 2.66 is more than enough.
I can bench at 2.8 just using the multiplier but get a BSOD shortly after finishing a run, I will try your settings and see if I can reach a similar result, do you have your ram speed locked at 1066 while the fsb is at 1222? -
How high can you get it just by upping the fsb and leaving the multiplier alone? just curious because if you look at the specs, some of those Q9200's have a max on the multiplier. isearched fairly diligently today because I bought one and found a cpu comparison chart that showed the q9200 as having a max multiplier @ 7.5. The max fsb comparison was same as qx9300.

Since raising the fsb oc's anything connected to it including the ram... hey, you dont have 1333mhz ram do you?
The reason I ask is that I bought some 1333 memory and can't fsb oc--wondering
if any m17x 1333mhz memory users have successfully fsb oc. I think 1333 is close to the limit for this Nvidia chipset. If you want to fsb oc then you need to use 1066mhz memory. -
How much are these going for now... I see 299 on eBay is that the norm?
-
I offered $250 and as soon as I clicked the button it said, "your offer was accepted".

qavs or qavr?

I can over clock stable to 2.8 with fsb OC, and multiplier at 10x, anything past that with fsb only, multiplier only, or a combo of the two results in a BSOD.
Personally I'm extremely happy I got a chip that runs perfect at 2.66 without the need for fsb OC'ing for only 225 USD, IMO with the performance this thing gives that's one hell of a bargain. If down the road I need more speed I'll add a bit of fsb clocking but a quad at 2.66 will be good enough to last me the entire time I own my M17x.
QAVR. -
Hey. Can you shoot me an e-mail? [email protected] -- I need to discuss the qosmio x305 with you. If you would be so kind :]
