Does anyone know what the quality of the 256 SSD is in the M15x?
I notice that some other sites like new egg sell 256 SSD drives for a lot more than the 400$ upgrade that Alienware is asking for. I don't really know the prices so I wanted to know if anyone could provide some info.

    thanks

I still think it's a crap shoot with the PB22-J from Dell. My original that died had the old firmware which is useless but the replacement came with the latest firmware on it that supports GC. Feeling lucky? ;)

It was completely gone. Wasn't even recognized in the bios. It simply failed for whatever reason.

Latest firmware is VBM19D1Q. You need to have 18C1Q or later. It's printed right on the drive and you can also find it in device manager.
