Okay, a few of you have been asking for these.
I don't have the images with me (I could post those later), but here are the before and after results. See my sig for my specs.
Stock 3DMark 06 benchmark from Alienware: 13,7xx (low 700s)
Stock 3DMark 06 benchmark from me: 13,78x (only slightly higher because of my pwnage license).![]()
3DMark 06 benchmark after E-wrecked's beta display drivers: 13,855.
That's it for now. I'll post the remaining 3DMark 06 Values as soon as I manage to put the screenshots I produced onto a flash drive.

Hm
only 700-800 difference from a T9600, not bad
-
Flashback,
Played any games yet? If so which ones and how was the performance? -

Also played an old favourite -- Tron 2.0. It's dated, but it used to challenge powerful machines back in the day because it used a proprietary NVIDIA means of achieving the familiar glow from the movie. Played it with everything maxed as well -- perfect performance.

how do u guys get 13k-14k+ 3dmark06 scores with the qx9300 cause my m17 is maxed out and installed e-wrecked's modded driver and still only get low 12k scores.
-
Something seems to be wrong. I get 13100 on a 2core cpu.
-
what processor do you have shznittle?
-
qx9300 2.53ghz
-
wow for sure would have expected higher numbers even at stock speeds..my qx9300 is on its way and man i hope it was worth all the extra money.. i had a 9300 in hand but sold it to a customer so i never got to play with it... i then sold the 9100 and ordered up myself another 9300.. hope it was worth it lol
-
Hey z, you know a QX9400 (~2.66) is coming out next year along with the P8700, 700 and T9800, 900?
-
Shznittle,
Your benchmark seems a little low. After i installed E-Wrecks 8.12 i get 14,900 and have not OCed CPU. -
who did you buy the qx9300 from z?
-
i cant wait for the core i7s to dop imma build a desktop hopefully when i start collage in the fall ,and Shznittle i would go over every thing and check your settings
-
yea tanamerra, thats what i'm confused about. i'm trying to figure out how to optimize my machine w/o OC to get 14k+ results...i really dont know whats up. i'll keep at it though. my last 3dmark06 score was 11k something...and my last 3dmark vantage was P7121 with a 9709 cpu score and 6540 graphics score. not sure if those are good numbers or anything but as for right now i'm just more worried about getting my 3dmark06 scores to a good level for me to move on to installing games on this bad boy.
-
-
i should (hopefully) have 2 more qx9300 on the way now and a few more ordered up soon.. i have 2 t9800's (well three but one is sold with a deposit on it, and 3 x9100's in hand now
-
i went to advanced system settings and adjusted for best performance and am finally back up to 13k+, 13627 3dmark06 score. the thing is i got 13k last night w/o having to do any of that. this whole benchmarking stuff seems so inconsistent.
-
S,
Have no explanation why my 3D scores are higher than average. Maybe someone else on the forums can suggest some changes that do not involve overclocking. i did change my memory to 4g of the OCZ DDR3 1333MHz but do not think that would make any difference in 3D scores. -
hummm curious you got lucky i guess glad to hear ur back at 13k shz u check n see if there is any resource hogs runnign in the backround?

yea thats what i'm talkin about Turbo. sure 13k is fine, but what do i have to do to get 14k or even 15k+ scores like how e-wrecked got w/o oc. i understand that he's got a x9100 that runs at 3ghz but by what most people are saying here, the cpu doesn't have too much affect on benchmark scores. dont get me wrong, a good cpu sure does help but an x9100 @ 3ghz vs a qx9300 @ 2.5ghz and QUAD non-theless shouldn't produce 2k+ difference with 3dmark06 scores. i was looking at other posts from e-wrecked and compared my 3dmark vantage scores with his non OC scores and his graphic scores are much higher than mine although we have the same gpus running in crossfirex, but my qx9300 ran directx alot smoother and produced much higher cpu scores. but because his graphic scores were higher he had a slightly higher score than mine, which also brings me back to how the cpu, although helps, doesn't influence the 3d benchmarks scores too much.
but anyways yes i do get rid of as much background hogs as i can or at least the ones i know for sure i dont need running at the time when i do my benchmark runs, thanks. -
yeah i know i hope im not dissapointed myself with the 9300.. if so i have a 9100 to swap in but i cant see how the 9100 would outperform it by 2k points...

Shznittle, E-Wrecked was OC'd for his benchies. He had his X9100 OC'd via BIOS, and then further OC'd by FSB adjustment. He overclocked the GPUs as well.
I don't know how the other guy is getting 14,900 with NO OC on his processor.
Those QX9300's will OC pretty high. That's when you're going to be breaking into the 15-16K area. That will void you warranty though.
Tanamerra, could we get an ORB link for that 14,900 on no OC score? -
I got 15716 Points with a QX9300 clocked at 3,06Ghz! Drivers Catalyst 8.12 Hotfix Driver modded with Mobility Modder! Non-overclocked GPU´s!
14900 Points with a non-overclocked CPU is too high, the most x9100 Cpu´s running at 3,3ghz to reach 15-16000!
Link in my Signature! -

I'm sure he just made a mistake. No biggie. It appears that pound-for-pound the QX9300 scores higher in 3DMark'06. You're getting 1K more points at 3.06 than I am able to get at 3.33. I've really got to get one of those Quads.
-
-
a qs sample is fine and basically the same as oem.. no difference i use them all the time..
-
Benchmark GTA IV since that game is very CPU-dependent. You might pull off 30+ FPS maxed out @ 1920x1200.
-
The CPU does affect the score, but you're right..the GPU affects it more than anything else. Click the link in my sig to compare to your 15.7k run and you'll see what I mean. Congrats, by the way..very nice score. The QX9300 is capable of 16-17k fairly easily. The x9100 is not, but that's ok. That's the reason quad-core came along..to be bigger, badder, and better. Regardless, you will always see that the x9100 produces higher SM2.0 and SM3.0 scores, and there's several reasons for that. When it comes down to gaming, the shader model 2.0 and 3.0 are almost obsolete anyhow, sm4.0 is the newest out and therefore 3dmark06 is pretty much an obsolete benchmark in its own. It is fun to reach for crazy high scores, but yea.. the current real world gaming scenarios will allow the x9100 to surpass the qx9300. Until engineers are building games to fully utilize, and optimize the use of Quad-core then us x9100 owners are the king.
oh...anyone with a qx9300 care to run their 3dmark vantage and compare to the one in my sig?
tanam, can you post your 3dmark score to Orb and set it to public? I'd like to do a comparison. Thanks. -
-
Very low? What do you consider low? You're prolly hittin around 6-7k, yea? I honestly can't replicate either of my 3dmark scores.. I believe it was this new KBC & BIOS I installed, it changed something as far as power distribution so I can't hit those scores when pumping the FSB or overclocking via multiplier. Im gonna flash back eventually, just havent taken the time. So, my scores in my sig are the absolute highest I've achieved. And the Vantage score, umm.. Honestly, I have *no* clue how i got it there and the funny thing is.. if you look at the details of the run it shows my CPU @ 3.9GHz. Not quite feasible.
Anyhow, I gotta run..
-
thank you very much everybody, but what i was actually looking at was e-wrecked's signure @ default he says he got 15,815. and @ default you mean w/o OC right? 15k+? i just want a 14k+ @ default. 15k is amazing E. but yea about a 3dmark vantage score, a few days ago my 3dmark vantage was P7121 with a 9709 cpu score and 6540 graphics score. that was the last time i successfully ran vantage...
-
la ultima how are the gpu temps? there have been a few cases of the plastic left on the heatsink for the second gpu causing this issue
-
anyways now after installing a few programs and an overnight defrag of my hard drive, i seem to have problems running 3dmark vantage. i get an error in the middle of running it saying "application lost focus or display resolution changed. Close all background applications." I've also noticed when i bring up CCC, the 3d preview under 3d settings just keeps loading w/ no results. i can leave CCC on for hours and the 3d preview doesn't pop up, just keeps loading. maybe theres something wrong with my driver...i'd hate to uninstall and reinstall for nothing. maybe its a result of my recent defragment of my hard drive...hmmmm.
-
-
Shnitz, try installing my modded ATI driver? The thread is here in AW forums. Use the second method, easy install. Then you don't gotta mod anything.. Can't hurt, could help.
-
Owe everybody on this forum an apology. My best 3Dmark score was 13,900 not 14,900. My mistake for not checking what i put in my signature. Sorry about that. Tempted to overclock but after previous problems with my M17X, and M15X computers without making any changes, do not want to take a chance and void my warranty. Will redo my signature.
Tanamerra -
Well.. The chance of u harming the rig is slim, if using bios to OC the multiplier. It should be stable up to 3-3.3 GHz. But i'm not saying you should OC it
-
yea E, i am currently using your modded drivers. i've tested the stock, 8.12 from ati, and your modded 8.12 and yours have given me the best results. thanks btw. about the vantage errors, i think i'm going to uninstall and reinstall your drivers and see what i get. +rep E.
-
I had a problem with Vantage doing that a while back. I believe I just used the have disk method to install the inf and it fixed it. No clean install. +rep for being the Shznittle
-
E, what do you mean u used the "have disk" method to install the inf? you talkin about reinstalling vantage or your modded drivers?
-
yea i figured it out, but it didn't work. it keeps failing to update via device manager when i use your .inf
-
this is my lastest 3dmark06 score @ default settings w/o OC, i'm planning on flashing my bios sometime today though. wish me luck i've never flashed any bios i really dont want to mess up my new m17 but i'm convinced that if i got a qx9300 that's meant to be pushed a little bit, i'm going to take advantage of what i got. but other than that, i'm still having problems with 3dmark vantage, i keep getting the "application lost focus or display resolution changed. Close all background applications." error everytime i try to run it. and the error occurs inconsistently during the vantage runs. most of the time it will occur after the first test (the female special agent) but sometimes its right after that or further along with the vantage run.

Looks like a decent score without oc'ing it. Good luck with your overclock and keep us posted !
-
ok guys...try this as well... you may need to uninstall physx version 8.10.13 and revert to an earlier version like physx 8.09.04. now before you all go saying ati doesn't use physx. vantage mark does and so does your intel cpu. but i have notice that 8.10.13 tends to have unforeseen issues. now if it doesn't apply, then of course...disregard. or you can try physx 8.11.18
-
Alright john, thanks +rep, i will try that when i get home. Im currently away just seeing whats up on the forums on my iphone.
-
oh no he didn't say his iphone..e wrecked be doing the same thing...but it's cool, because i be checking from htc touch pro..woooohoooo!..
