    Hello..

Since installing the QX9300 I'm having problems where Crossfire is being "buggy" and dropping frame rates in 3dmark06. The problem are described below.

Now, this doesn't happen all the time unless using the x12.5 multiplier to run 3.33GHz. It will run @ 3.19GHz using the x12 multiplier, but nothing faster. However, I can boot into Vista 64-bit running @ 3.33GHz if I set Vista to Power Saver mode..but when I get into the OS and change it to Performance mode, the system being buggy as soon as the CPU requests power for any tasks/processes. I am currently running the .28 BIOS available for download on the Driver's page. I was under the impression this BIOS would resolve the power issues for anything lower than the 13.5 multiplier. Obviously, the issue is still there. So.. that's problem number one.

    Crossfire dropping link:
When runing 3dmark06 the framerates will drop to single GPU rates at any given moment, for no good reason. I thought it may have been the 9.1 ATI Modded driver, so I uninstalled and reverted back to the driver on the support page. This driver was doing the same. So, I decided to fresh install Vista, thinking maybe it was a driver conflict. After a fresh install, same problems. I can only assume this is caused by the same problem as - lack of proper power running to components. I can get 3dmark06 to make a full run after a few tries, once it loads into memory it seems to run a bit better. This problem occurs with the 11.5 multiplier, 12, and as you know.. I cant use the 12.5 or higher. Nevertheless, it even occured at the 9.5 multiplier. I have checked hardware connections, software/driver conflicts(none), and troubleshooted til it gave me a headache. Not sure why there is a problem now, aside from the fact I'm drawing more power and the rig can't handle it.

Any resolutions would be appreciated, and while I suspect it is the BIOS. :(

What kind of temps are you getting for the GPU?

I bought my M17 from Alienware with the minimum configuration, but with dual 3870. And then find me a qx9300 OEM prossesor on ebay for half the price than AW, and even 4GB of memory in 1333. I have tried all different Bios 026, 027, (028 that I use now) but no difference to the problem. And I have also tried to install Vista x86, Vista x64, Win7x86, Win7x64 and the difference I noticed was in Win7x64 when 3DMark ran a little better and not quite as Buggy, but not perfect .. And I have also checked my temp and they are normal. So I starting to get really tired of this. Do you guys have any ide? :( I think it can be someting with the volt to graficard or processor maybe?

Sorry for some bad english i'm a swedish guy.. ;)

I had a Whitebook/M17 for testing a few weeks ago.

I could not get the QX9300 stable above 11.5x (3.06GHz); I would get a BSOD before Windows logged on.

The reason you are probably able to boot up in power-save mode is because the processor is not running at full speed; when it does run at full speed, it is not stable.

Try an 11.5x multiplier and see if that works better.
